Well I think 100% Horak is gone due to waiver wire status. Gotta imagine he's counting down the days to get off his ELC and not the odd man out because of his waiver status. Convienient for the team, probably sucks as a player.

If the Flames have any sense, they put Jackman in Abby as the second guy but after hearing Hartley say that he likes Jacks intensity, it'll probably be Street.

Just by the numbers, got to be Horak and Street. Really too bad since Street has played well and Horak should be in the NHL. McGratton IMO is a key guy on this team, as something more then an enforcer.

Honestly, and funny for saying this for a not-elite team... but we have too many NHL quality guys that should be here.

Woohoo. Hopefully Scoreface will start playing better with Stajan as his center.

Street and Horak will be the ones sent down I'm sure. We need Stajan badly for faceoffs

Good news, but now comes the log jam of forwards and some tough decisions. I don't think we will see any trades at this point of the season, which means that Horak and Street are likely off to Abbotsford. That sucks IMO - I think Horak should have been with the big club to start with, and although he has leveled off a bit in the last few games I think Street has played very well with the Flames. I hate to see him go.

My biggest fear with the veterans returning from injury is that the team will lose the energy, drive, and intensity that has made them so awesome to watch so far this season. Here's hoping they can keep it up regardless of who stays and who goes...

For the two to go down, assuming Monahan has done enough to remain in the NHL, they will come from these players:
Street
Horak
Jackman

Colborne stays, as he is improving and needs time to show that. he also would not clear waivers.
Bouma has earned a spot, and McGrattan IMO is the perfect 13th forward, to bring in when a bigger 4th liner is needed.

I want to see Horak getting NHL minutes, but I don't see him unseating Hudler, Baertschi, Cammalleri, Jones, Stempniak or Glencross. He would be wasted on the 4th line or in the pressbox, and in a 4th line role, I would prefer to see a platoon of Bouma, Galiardi and McGrattan.

Street can play wing or centre, but like Horak, I do not see him beating any of the wingers above for gametime, and at centre, Backlund, Stajan, Monahan and Colborne all draw in ahead.

Jackman is not needed anymore, if the flames lose a winger or two to injury, Horak, Street, Hanowski, etc. are all better to call up. I would like to see him traded, but in the numbers game, he might have to stay on the roster until a trade goes down.

I could see Horak, Street demoted, Jackman shopped, then the Flames could go with 13 forwards if Jackman goes, or recall one of Horak or Street

Cammalleri - Backlund - Jones
Baertschi - Monahan - Hudler
Glencross - Stajan - Stempniak
Bouma - Colborne - Galiardi
ex. McGrattan

That would be my forward unit

Yeah, I think Street and Horak are the obvious choices.

The lines posted above by several people look about right, with Jackman and McGrattan as extras.

There will obviously be more injuries, so this will only be a temporary issue, but I have to think that the organization is looking to move Jackman if they can. With the development of Bouma and the solid play of Galiardi, Jackman is expendable.

Also, they would want to keep one roster spot open to rotate in guys from Abby (though again, injuries do the same thing).

Why? If/when you trade him you do it at the deadline.

I think it is also possible that Hartley would look to put Cammalleri with Monahan and Hudler, and send Baertschi down.

I think that would be a huge mistake, but I could see it happening.

If a trade comes up that is a good deal and makes sense, I don't care if it's done today or at the deadline. But I would hate to see (or hear of) the Flames passing up trade opportunities purely to wait until the deadline. It's not the be-all-end-all of good deals.

No, IMO not until they consistently play a plurality of the EV minutes and get matched against other teams top guys.

I also don't imagine teams have been making offers left and right, or at all, on Stajan while he's injured.

how funny is it that a year ago people would have given Stajan away and now we want him back to help Glencross.

Good trades will be focused around the deadline. I dont see a great offer sitting on the table right now.

Baertschi is playing very good right now. There is absolutely no way he gets sent down.
