If you are a kid from the Northeastern or Midwest US, hell, if you are a kid from MTL or TO or Moscow or Prague who is good enough to command a no trade clause, far away western cities, and smaller markets in general, are terra incognita. Unknown and undesirable.

Given the oilers disposition to handing out 6 year $6 million per deals, I'd imagine most guys who are considered bottom 9 forwards on thier teams have the oilers on thier personal wish list.

The big difference being that Edmonton is obviously trying to acquire Miller.

Meh. We don't need to be concerned about goaltending for a while, where as Edmonton is in what, year 5 of their rebuild and they still don't have a quality goaltender.
Honestly, I wish the oilers would trade Yakupov for Miller. Trading what will be a perennial 30 year goal scorer for a 33 year old goalie who's already on the decline, good idea oilers!
That would be super shortsighted.

Yakupov+RNH + Dubnyk for Lehner + Karlsson + Lazar?
That deal would buff their defense and goaltending but Karlsson and lazar aren't exactly slouches offensively either. It probably needs some balancing but what do you think about the idea?
Karlsson would buff their defense? He just adds another small offensive weapon with zero clue defensively. Plus there is roughly a 0% chance Ottawa trades him.
That deal makes little to no sense for Ottawa and not a ton if sense for Edmonton either.
