I thought it was a brilliant move to go away from the "mighty" ducks since that was a stupid disney franchise and was only receptive to the young kids. The "Ducks" is a much more adult and cool logo/team design and I love the new colour scheme etc. Plus, it's hard to be intimidated by an animated/drawn duck goalie mask.
BTW, purple is always a terrible choice for sporting team colours.

There are no terrible colours for sports teams (except for pink) just terrible combinations of colours. I like to see teams own their colours instead of teams all using various permutations of red, blue and black.

I disagree.

I think I'm on the same page with most here, the 'Mighty' is cheesy and should stay gone forever. However, those jerseys, colours, and that logo? MILES ahead of what they have now. The whole Ducks logo is just so BORING and ugly. Plus, it's unfortunate that their main jersey colour is black. Black works great as an accent colour to make other colours pop, but in this case I don't like it as the main colour, it doesn't add anything to their jerseys.
More purrrrrp please.
The logo could be redesigned to be less cartoony, but it's certainly better than the one they have now.
I think the consensuses tends be what I agree with; getting rid of Mighty was good, but the purple and green were at least interesting. Maybe this is a precursor to less boring and sucky jerseys?
I gotta admit that Duck's logo has held up pretty well over the years, especially when you stick it next to the other "cutting edge" logos from that time.
Say what you will about the Disney tie-in and the "mighty" name, they had some solid designers working on the Duck's branding.
I don't know if this was rumour or actually discussed, but I remember hearing back before Anaheim played their first game that the owners were "encouraging" management to put the word "mighty" in front of each players' name on the jersey. Imagine seeing "Mighty Shtalenkov" or "Mighty Ladouceur" on a nameplate.
