I was pretty much on the Monahan band wagon from the start as a realistic draft pick. Nurse was my second choice. I was scared we'd draft the Russian and watch the possible soap opera for years to come.
three games mean absolutely nothing in terms of player assessment. Monahan looks somewhat better than other rookies because he is big and can handle physical play better and he scores. Other than that he didn't show anything i should be too excited (or too worried) .
Actually his scoring ability itself is kind of scary since this suggests he can collect points even without playing well and his junior record is a result of this. But this is pure speculation.

I've never seen someone so neutral, in reading CP all these years. There is literally no stance on anything in this post.

I don't think he can play poorly in the NHL and still get the points. He will need to work hard and get into the tough areas to get his chances. Until we can find someone to do the dirty work to feed this guy, he might be a one man show.
Sven is great an all but who in the future will be working hard to get the puck. Or maybe it is Monahan feeding everybody else.

The one question I have is if he is going to switch his number? He wore #20 through junior, and I thought he was going to take #19 here in CGY. #23 looks odd on him.

Yes I think 19 would be fitting for a centreman, just like Yzerman, Sakic,Thronton & Toews.
Although, I noticed David Jones is still D. Jones, so the Flames are saving the 19 for the return of Blair?
Great article, thanks for sharing. Hate to nitpick, but would have preferred to hear a veteran, would've opened their home to him, instead of hearing he's living in a hotel room.

So you want him to have the Mario treatment... So Murray Edwards should let him stay with him?
A hotel room for an 18year old would be awesome. ... Especially since he is here still trying to make the team.

Lol what? It's typical protocol for an 18 year old to move in with a vet during their first season. Tavares and weight, Crosby and Lemieux, rnh and jones, mackinnon and gigure. It's common practice and I'm sure monahan will get the same treatment if he makes the team.

Ya. As I mentioned Sean is in a hotel because he is still trying to make the team.
Once he makes the team and is here to stay ten the hotel room isn't a suitable situation

I just didn't understand the Murray vs Lemieux comparison

It makes sense. The previous franchise players were 12 and 34 so he's taking 23.

I'm confused, would you like to see more before making a judgement?
