Similar to what I said before it's just my opinion, but I don't think black is our color in any way. Look at our division. 7 teams - 4 of them have solid black jerseys and two others (us and Vancouver) used to.
Personally I think changing colors and logos aside from your third jersey is lame. The best jerseys and brands in sport don't change every 5 years to add the latest color. Every second team added black in the late 80s/90s to their color scheme. Once you've done it you're right it's part of the team history but I wish they hadn't ever switched. I don't think the Calgary Flames pedestal or piping is ever going to be up there with Yankee pinstripes. At least we didn't ever bust out a monstrosity like wildwing I guess.

Yeah, I tend not to count the years when we were an entirely different team.
Much like I imagine the Coyotes don't identify with the colour blue, or the Hurricanes don't identify with blue and green.
It's totally fair to connect Atlanta and Calgary, but I don't, that was a different team in a different city, just because the jerseys barely changed doesn't mean that was our team.
I don't know, to me, the Flames colours are the same as the Devils but with yellow added in. Full respect to anyone who thinks otherwise, but when I think of the Calgary Flames, I think of red/black/white/yellow. Retros were cool, but that doesn't "speak" Calgary Flames identity to me, it speaks of the past.
If they ever changed and did retros as their full time homes and aways, cool! I wouldn't mind, but I do think the black/red combination has a lot more POP to it than red with just white and yellow.
To me, you've got a few teams that rock the red/black/white scheme, but Calgary has that yellow to give a little extra flavour. I like the four colours together.
