Yeah, they weren't expected to win going into the game, but when you grab a 3-0 (then 4-1) lead, you're expected to win the game.
I think the best Flame tonight was Stempniak. He was fantastic along the boards.
Stajan was the worst Flame. Handled the puck like a grenade, couldn't make 5 foot passes.

That's a solid effort against a very skilled team. They will learn to not take bad penalties and Washington has a solid PP. happy with what I watched, though disappointed with the result. Street was a pleasant surprise

Glencross doesn't belong on the top 2 lines. Enjoyed the game. Ovechkin is just too damn good.
Special teams need a ton of work.

We are going to lose a lot of games, but it was a very entertaining game and they played all out. That's pretty much all you can ask.

First lesson of many for the young Flames. But valiant effort tonight.

So Flames positives to take away from this game:
1) We CAN put the puck in the net
2) Flames have ONE POINT!!!
3) Oilers have ZERO POINTS

Would have been nice to see the kids in OT -- but they were out against Ovechkin with less than 2 minutes to go in a tie game. Good situational experience for them.
There's going to be a lot of nights like this, hopefully the team can learn from them and start closing some out.

A good effort and pretty entertaining game. If I see that this season, then the losses won't feel as bad.
Still, blowing a lead like that. gahhhh.

Disappointed Monahan or Baertchi didn't get a single shift in OT but I like the effort overall.

Damn, more things change the more the stay the same. 2nd period letdown, terrible in the coin flip. All will be forgiven with a win tomorrow.

Stempniak was good, but my vote goes to Backlund.
I also thought Gio played well.

Give him a few games. 12 minutes is pretty solid for a first game. I think he'll be sent back purely because Hartley won't guarantee at least 15 minutes with PP/PK time after his first 9 games. And I'm fine with that. Lots of Oiler-esque calls for "the kids".
Patience. Even with Sven. Sheltered minutes until they get acclimatized.

Lots of positives for this game. It is a rebuild squad - they are going to give up a lot of chances, and blow some leads, but Ovenchkin had a pretty impressive game. Washington had a big push-back on the Flames, and it went their way. Lots of mistakes, but the effort was definitely there.
Still nice to see the Flames competing hard for most of the game. Jones did much better than I imagined he would. McGrattan looks like he can be a staple on the 4th line, and Bouma did very well for himself.

I would hope most would see after this game why it's important that Monahan and Sven both get sent down. Hartley is in job preservation mode and he's not going to play any kids until they are mathematically eliminated like last year. No PP time or OT shifts for either one. What's the point of keeping them up?

tending was good...break away, 2 off flames sticks, and a point blank shot to tie it
