If we're just stating the obvious why dont we just cut to the chase and get to the lowest common denominator?

Close. Now do it in 5-7-5.
William Shatner could do it.

My personal favourite sign in Edmonton is the one on Yellowhead Trail that screams something along the lines of "The Yellowhead... The NEW Trans-Canada Highway". It just reeks of desperation, particularly since Edmonton is the only major city on the entire route.

I have never seen that, that sounds hilarious! Can any of our unfortunate northern citizens get a photo of that?

Strangely, the big pile of manure in front of the sign isn't part of the vandalism, just part of Edmonton's "charm".

Some of the posters in this thread must be incredible photo shoppers considering that's a real picture. Also, sorry for breaking up the "is Sven a bust" talk with some good ole fashioned battle of Alberta conversation. This rivalry really isn't what it used to be.

It's real?
Oh.
Well I can only assume it's a desperate request for a little human touch. After all, they're not getting any attention from anyone else.
They could've at least said "PLEASE suck it, Calgary? PLEASE, WE'RE BEGGING YOU, JUST THE TIP?"
I think that captures their desperation a little better.

ROFL, I just discovered it is even in the Yellowhead Highway Wikipedia article! The sign is even lamer than I remembered, since it extols the virtues of driving between Edmonton and... Yorkton.
Though I have to admit, I like the fact that they pulled a reverse Liberal Party of Canada here by pretending Canada ends at Winnipeg.
