That trade just got worse and worse as more information came out. Went from Adam and a 2nd to Byron, Butler, and a 2nd to Byron and Butler with a 2nd going the other way.
Side note, this got me thinking about the roster players we now have to show for the 2009 core of Iginla, Kipper, Regehr, Langkow, Phaneuf, and J-bo.
The answer: Stajan, Butler, and Stempniak
Woof.

I rather have gotten Adam then Butler or Bryan. At least he has some size and might have had a better shot at cracking the Flames line-up.
Have not followed Adam this pre-season, but he must have looked bad considering they are in rebuild stage also.

If your club claims somebody off waivers, they must stay on the NHL roster for 30 days after the claim. After that, to send them down, they have to be put on waivers.

Is that new? It's way better than a year. It means you can take a chance, give them an audition and send them down or lose them if it doesn't work out.

It's more complicated than that. I simplified it. For instance, the team that lost them gets first crack...

There seems to be a lot of confusion over waivers. As far as I'm aware, there is no time period requirement for keeping a claimed player on your roster. You could try to send him down the next day, as long as you follow the proper procedure which would include waiving him again prior to assignment.
Anyway, here's a summary of the CBA rules regarding claiming players as I understand them. Someone can correct me if I'm wrong:
13.19: Waiver order is always determined by reverse standings (previous year's standings prior to Nov 1st, and current year's afterwards). Teams that lose players to waivers don't get any preferential treatment if that player is waived again (other than described in 13.22), nor does claiming a player on waivers affect the priority order for future claims.
13.20: A player claimed by waivers cannot be traded for the rest of that season unless he's offered for free to any other team that put in a claim when he was originally waived. If no other teams had put in a claim (or none of the teams that did put in a claim are interested in taking the player for free), he can be traded.
13.22: When a player is claimed off of waivers and then waived later in the same season, and his original team is the only claimant, that player can be assigned to the AHL without waivers within 30 days of the most recent claim. If any other teams had put in claim, then the player would have to be waived again prior to assignment.

Is there a complete list of waiver wire eligible players that have a chance to be sent down?

Well the true and fair answer would be:
Stajan, Stempniak, Butler, Byron, Cundari, Berra, Poirier, Klimchuk, Agostino, Hanowski + Kipper retiring as a Flame and the way he wanted to.

Gervais is an interesting one. Wouldn't be surprised if he ends up in Detroit somehow (Would have been perfect if Nik was still there, would have been like another Ian White for him haha)

Travis Morin might be a good player to pick up for the AHL club. He's turning into a great scorer and a journeyman on that league, he would be a good player to help usher in the younger guys like Granlund and get them used to being a pro at the North American level.
Edit: Hard to believe Skille is a 7th overall in 05 for the Hawks. He is a big bodied right winger and could be a good player to have who is also still relatively young at 26.

I am pretty sure you can claim a player and put them on waivers again. Boychuk got claimed by Nashville then put on waivers and claimed by Pittsburgh then placed on waivers again and claimed by Carolina last year.

I wouldn't mind if the Flames grabbed Goloubef or Adams. Goloubef is still young for that type of defenseman, and he shoots right. With the only Flames defenseman currently shooting right being Wideman, I think it wouldn't be the worst case scenario to bring in a young, cheap, right handed shot if it's just at the expense of someone like Smith.
Adams can play the 4th line, so even if he doesn't reach his potential he's not a wasted roster spot. However, the Flames currently do have too many forwards, but if B. Jones or Jackman make the team in favour of a player like Adams, I would be disappointed.

Chris Porter was the center of St.L. 4th line in the playoffs between Cracknell and Reaves... He is on a brand new first time for him one-way contract and is getting messed up by the addition of Paajarva who is too high profile to waive and then basically replaced by Morrow.
He is a great 4th line energy player who hits everything that moves.
He is so far ahead of what Begin was last year is is ridiculous....
Will Bouma and/or Ferland and/or Blair Jones be as good as him?

Goloubef is intriguing, lots of upside there and caught up with lots of decent young d-men in Columbus.

Does Adam Hall live on waivers or something? I swear I've seen him to the waiver wire something like 427 times over the course of his career.
