I'm sure he prefers Stabotsford better though.

I prefer Deadmonton. Not at all relevant to thread but suitable, as burning a rival team is always hilarious.

I assume he believes Seiloff isn't physically mature enough for pro hockey. However, he apparently hasn't watched Seiloff or read the multiple sources of him being physically mature enough for the AHL at the very least.

Abby is going to be a young team, playing the same style as the Flames. Ramage, Wortherspoon, Sieloff, Billins will be thrown the the wolves but there will be plenty of young forwards as well. I think this is a good call

Great news for Sieloff. It sounded like he earned a step up from the CHL in camp and now he has it.

Good for Sieloff. He's earned it with the way he has played in prospect camp and during training camp. He's physically ready for the next step and hopefully he can become a solid player for the Heat this season.

Fun to see these young guys moving up through the system. The difference in the make up of this team over the course of a couple of years is going to be huge.

He's the odds-on favourite to be the captain of Team USA.

Wow. Seems like Sieloff gets the best of both worlds. A pro contract with all the funds that accompany it, and he still gets to compete in the best youth tournament in the world.
I'm curious about one thing. Ferland couldn't hack it as a pro last year, was buried on the depth chart and so the brass returned him to the junior league as an over-ager. This ended up working out extremely well for Ferland's development.
Could this happen again for Sieloff? If it seems as though he isn't getting the mins or experience, will they be able to send him back down to junior?

IMO this was obviously going to happen. As is the fact that as the deadline approaches Russel, Butler and Smith will all be traded for picks, clearing up permanent roster space for Cundari and Sieloff.

Nice move. Hope it's the same for Monahan.

Norm!

Ferland's demotion and lack of confidence came from distraction due to personal issues and maybe a lack of understanding of professional requirements.
Seiloff seems to have confidence and preparation in spades. Ferland didn't struggle for lack of developed skills as much as a lack of developed head.
He was sent back to juniors to get his confidence back.

Absolutely the reasons will be completely different. Ignoring the personal situations of each, if for some reason, Sieloff isn't able to get meaningful development in Abby, can he go back? I know it wouldn't be for the same reasons as Ferland.

Russell won't be going anywhere for a while, and you won't have any issue with that.

If Monahan is in the NHL playing at an NHL level I don't want him going to the World Juniors and taking a step down in competition just because I'd like to see him playing in it.
If Sieloff is in the AHL it's different though.
Anyways, good for him and the Flames.

According to this article, Sieloff can still be returned to Windsor before Feb 10.
http://blogs.windsorstar.com/2013/09...ff-to-windsor/
Quote:
Sieloff can play nine games with the Flames before his NHL contract kicks in. He can still be sent to the AHL, but NHL clubs have a Feb. 10 cutoff date to option a player back to junior hockey.
While not expecting him to return, there’s little doubt the Spitfires will keep a card available just in case.
The last time that happened was in 2011 when the Toronto Maple Leafs placed Jerry D’Amigo with its AHL farm team, but sent him back to the Kitchener Rangers after 41 games with the Toronto Marlies and just days before the deadline.
“We have to move on as if we’ll never see him again and make alternate plans,” Boughner said. “We assess our team now that everyone’s back and see where we’re at.”
