Centre Ice works right now, but the game on Ottawa's local cable channel isn't being shown.

Weird choice to put Knight on the wing instead of Backlund. I always thought Backlund would make a better winger and is not that great on the draw whereas Knight is a pretty good faceoff guy.

And didn't Backlund play wing in Sweden during the lockout? Makes more sense to put him on wing than Knight.

curious why ferland aint' playing. WOuld have thought he would given his background in saskatoon.

though i thought brossiot would also get into the game in EDM on the weekend and that didn't happen either.

No big deal of course.

Could be that they wanted Corban to draw on Backlunds experience, intensity, positioning. I wouldn't be surprised at some point if they get switched back and forth, but maybe Corban is lacking something they want him to see in Backlund or at least the vets are there to mentor the young guy.

I think you have to keep Backlund developing at center ice no matter what. He should never see time on the wing, as he is our future Jordan Staal.

yup, i am happy that backlund is being pushed as a center. I think he plays like a center in the offensive/defensive zones, and looks pretty good doing it. If he can stay healthy, this has gotta be his breakout year pointwise. He'll be playing with legitimate scoring wingers and be given top offensive opportunities, and i hope/think it will translate into positive results.

Maybe because they would like to see how Knight does offensively and on the fore-check, without the burden of the defensive responsibilities of C - put him in different situations in order to evaluate his game.

Because, you know, it's pre-season.

For a skilled offensive player, Jooris playing on a conservative defensive team can only help his defensive play in all 3 zones. It will be nice to see what he can do when paired with skilled players. I think he probably has the edge on Corban Knight for now in terms of being more noticeable for his overall play so far.
Interesting to know he was one of the fittest players in camp according to that article.

Was there any results released in regards to fitness testing?

My guess is that O'Brien probably was near the bottom.

They've said Kanzig might have had the lowest body fat at 7%. And still weighed 248lbs. That's just massive

I remember doing that in high school. Do you know what he got?

They wanted 100 bucks + for any decent seat for this game, so I passed. But now I wish I was there :/ I would enjoy seeing this roster more than the past few pre season rosters that have passed through town.

Hopefully we find a stream.

On TSN2
Lucic-Krejici-Iginla on a line together. Iggy gives up the puck in his own end which leads to mtl goal.

Heard Cammy and Kanzig bench pressed in the 285-300 range, for strength testing

Iginla also opened the scoring with an awesome one-timer.

Just saw that highlight. Should be a good fit for him it looks like so far. He should of gone to them instead of Pitt.

I can't see the Flames winning this game. Ottawa's got some awesome prospects. Berra should be the difference in this game if the Flames hope to win.
