And by that logic I would be right, given that any team can beat any team on any given night.
Since we are splitting hairs.
The Oilers will be dressing 4 NHL defensemen, likely 3,4,7 and 8. Though Larsen played in the 7 hole in Dallas last year. The other 2 are both cabable AHL defensemen. Are the flames dressing thier top 6? No.
I don't know the lines, but the Flames first line won't put up the points the Oilers second line will, assuming its Perron, Eberle and Gagner. The Oilers 4th line you speak of would be Gordon, Jones and Eager. Gordon is slotted as our 3C and Jones and Eager are question marks but both can play in the NHL.
Unless the Flames prospects are mostly NHL ready, which I doubt - I don't see how this doesn't seem like a pretty even match-up.

As laughable as having Glencross- Stajan- Stempniak as a first line might be, they will still put up points. Stempniak tied for team lead in points. Glencross is a 30 goal scorer. Sadly this was our best line last year, and it was not even close.

Pretty frustrating. I was really looking forward to watching the squad in Calgary, but it's not being streamed on the Flames site or the Oilers site.

But yeah, it looks like a wash.

I'm not one to defend the Oilers but it looks like they are actually bringing their second and third line centres, their first line right winger, their second line left winger, and top defensive pairing.
Now their top defensive pairing and Sam Gagner don't exactly inspire fear, but our line up makes my stomach turn.
It's going to be a very long season.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but they would have to sign either a contract or a PTO to be at camp, which ends their NCAA eligibility.

I thought i read they could come to camp but would have to get permission from their school and teachers. They would be missing 2 weeks of classes which is a hell of alot in one span. They would also have to pay their own way.

I want the dome game!!!
By the sounds of it the Oil media are actually streaming the Edmonton game, while we're streaming their broadcast on the Flames site. I think our guys need to do the same and get the dome game streamed as well. No PBP required, even. If they just put a camera on the thing for 60 minutes, it would be good enough.

Actually that sounds more correct, because we have CHL guys here without contracts. But yeah, the player would have to fork out the $1000 for a plane ticket, another $1000-$1700 for hotels and food. Plus they have to miss school, and it's no guarantee they're making the team. It seems like a huge waste of money and time if they're not prepared to turn pro yet.

The issue has less to do with wanting to broadcast the game and being able to broadcast the game. This will be the first game since the floods so it sounds like the Flames aren't entirely sure if the can stream the game just yet and are probably more worried about ironing out many of the in game issues before tackling the broadcast stuff.
