Yep pretty decent, and should save them 1-1.5 million over what they would of needed to pay him in a couple years. 500k less would have been better, but with all the bad deals Buffalo is saddled with (Leino, Myers, Ehrhoff) this one is actually worthwhile.
Like that a team was actually proactive for once too, and didn't dick around trying to nickle and dime a player into accepting a bridge deal. Good on ownership, management, and the Hodgson himself.

Kyper sucks at math, that's a $4.25M AAV. $27M over 6 is $4.5M AAV.

I knew I should have double-checked his math! I'll update the title.

NY Rangers were probably hoping this would be a bridge deal. If Hodgson and Kadri both had done bridge deal , have to think Stepan would have thought about it.

if he continues to be good enough to be a 2nd line C this is a pretty good deal.
If his development takes him to top line C, this is a steal.

Good move by Hodgson and his agent to a get a longer term deal rather than a bridge contract because it'll probably pay off. His 5-on-5 numbers without Pominville (and Vanek to a lesser extent) were downright tragic:
With Pominville (65% of his EV TOI):
20 pts
3.60 GF/60 min
2.91 GA/60 min
Without Pominville (35% of his EV TOI):
2 pts
1.16 GF/60min
4.65 GA/60 min
Now that Pominville is gone, we'll see which Hodgson the Sabres are going to get. The guy who can score at a 55-60 point pace or the defensive disaster who scores at a 25-30 point pace. If he doesn't improve his defensive play, I doubt he'll be trusted with the minutes to put up good numbers.

If only a reliable, professional reporter was informed! I guess we'll have to wait until that happens to know for sure.

Kypreos changed his numbers three bloody times! I believe it's right now.

If he can put up 25, 30 goals a season as a second line center then this is a great deal.

This is interesting. Will be pretty crappy deal if he can't produce without Pominville.
I hope for all Flames fans sake that he thrives and the Kassian trade looks very bad on MG, haha Can'tucks.

I like it. Not a bad price, will be good if his development continues.
With him, Grigo, Girgensons, and Larsson we have a wealth of potential at all levels of center.

Was viewed as a very sheltered player in van. Produced when paired with top end talent last year but I've always thought he was incredibly over rated. I just dont see more then an average 2nd liner in him. He is a total train wreck in his own zobe. Time will tell.

Buffalo actually looks like they are fairly well positioned to start a youth movement in the next few years.

What are the chances of Grigorenko lasting the year in BUF? ... Is he projected into their Top 6, currently?

I believe in the Jays.

This is a very good deal for the Sabres. At 4.25M all he has to do to be worth that is be a legit average 2nd line forward.
