Thursday Night games mostly suck. They go contrary to the NFL's attempt at improving player safety and the games were generally crap last year. Indeed, a whopping 4 out of 14 games were decided by a TD or less...one fewer than the number of games decided by 17 or more. With better scheduling and use of the bye weeks, there should not have to be short turnarounds.

Once the QB has started to run with it, he no longer is a QB but considered a RB. So when the option starts and the QB is showing no intention of throwing while leaving the pocket, he is now fair game like anyone else. At least that's how I understand it.

I tend to think QB's get off light when it comes to contact especially when they run. I will wait to see how they call it.

I would rather see teams get two long weeks rather than a bye....but I doubt that ever happens. I think the league mandates that players get to stay away from the practice facility for that entire week.

Not sure whether to put this here or on the Offseason thread (assuming offseason thread is going to die). Rex Ryan wanted to draft Russell Wilson in the 2nd round of the draft last year, but was overruled by former GM Mike Tannenbaum. Pretty depressing.

They had threads for Blue Jays series and a general Blue Jays thread so I see no reason you can't start GDT's for each week to specifically talk about in game stuff.

Excited for the Lions season though still not excited/impressed with the top pick. I think the Lions had too many needs and are too close to competing to reach for a project that likely has minimal impact this year. Would have been nice to get a starter out of the 5th overall pick.

It has mostly been positive vibes coming out of Philadelphia Eagles camp under Chip Kelly, save for that one unfortunate incident of Riley Cooper uttering a racial slur and threatening to divide the locker room.

Not much has happened in the aftermath of that incident — until now. Cooper and teammate Cary Williams, a cornerback who is new to the club this season, reportedly got into a fight at Eagles practice today, according to dozens of media observers.

Rex is a terrible head coach no doubt. But I believe he's had a top-10 defense every year he's been a co-ordinator or the Jets coach. He's like Wade Phillips, great co-ordinator, nothing close to a good head coach.

Who's to say it had anything to do with that? Practice field fights are pretty common.

Ugh. That's disgusting and not something I would not have ever pictured Lovie Smith employing.

That being said, I would have a hard time believing that most teams not have a 'dive guy' for that same specific reason.

LOL. Good old Williams. Got into a few fight practice scraps in Baltimore and nearly came to blow with players on Sundays as well. The guy is a major hothead with attitude and maturity issues.
