Damn son, that jersey is ridiculous. Ridiculously good. I'm biased, because that is the EXACT type of jersey I like best, but I think they nailed it.

Awesome jerseys, the red font is pretty sharp too. Much improved over their Christmas colored jerseys of past.

How could anyone possibly not recognize that as the profile of a cat within 5 seconds?

Very nice jersey. If I was a Wild fan I'd buy one for sure. Very sharp.
Also, on the icethetics page they have more pics of Harding with the jersey and all I can notice is how insanely high his pads go, there's no way those could be legal this year.

I'm always surprised at how many people like the Wild's jerseys. Aside from their 3rd, I think they're terrible. If they got rid of the red, they would look so much nicer.

EDIT: Beaten to it, I guess..
Or is it a bear? It looks like a bear to me.

Logo
The multi-functional primary logo of the "Wild Animal" has been met with both praise and criticism. The logo depicts both an environmental landscape and the silhouette of a wild animal. The "eye" of the "Wild Animal" is a star, in tribute to the departed Minnesota North Stars.
The questions surrounding the identity of the animal depicted has sparked debate amongst logo enthusiasts, earning it recognition as one of the best logos in sports according to The Good Point. Some feel as though the form of the animal on the logo is that of a wild cat, while the majority view it to be a bear.
In 2008, "Nordy" was introduced as the official mascot of the team.
|
Nordy is intentionally ambiguous, apparently...
Nordy page
Quote:
A WILD animal born in the north woods of the Iron Range, Nordy was found skating the frozen lakes and ponds near Eveleth, MN. While no one truly knew what sort of Wild animal he is, it was clear that Nordy encompassed the true spirit of the Wild.

I like it. Of course, their third jersey is the best hockey jersey currently in use anywhere. Absolute perfection.

I think it needs black, crazy piping and horizontal + vertical striping all at the same time. Oh and they need to replace the shoulder patches with an American and Minnesota flags. Then they would almost be as stylish as the Flames.

Safe to say the Wild now have one of the best uniform combinations in the NHL. This and their green jersey. Stunning.

The Wild simply "get" good jersey/uniform design. Even their "bad" jerseys are still really well done. I'm honestly not sure there's another team in the NHL that goes through as many jersey redesigns will continuing to nail each one.
They've never had goofy side panels (Pittsburg, Ottawa) or excessive piping (Flames) or even laid a real turkey (Mooterus, the Buffaslug, all Canucks jerseys between 1978-2007) during their time.

It's well done all around. The dark green and dark red look great and I think the logo does a great job of depicting 'wild' in the context of the northern areas of this continent with the outline of the mountain lion containing spruce trees and a western sunset. IMO one of the best logos in professional sports if you really look at the details. Shame about the annually almost unwatchable hockey that franchise continues to put out on the ice for its fans. Won't miss seeing that franchise 4+ times a year at all. In fact IMO the best part of the schedule for me is the Wild being out of the Flames division.

Stupid team name, mediocre logo, but nice jersey. Now the tough part for Minnesota: Stick with it for a while.
