I'd argue Janko is already ahead of Nemisz 1 year after their drafts. Janko moved to a much higher level of hockey, and adjusted well. Nemisz treaded water the season following his draft (actually went from an OHL 1st team AllStar pre-draft to an OHL 2nd team AllStar post-draft).

As long as Feaster and/or Weisbrod are still with the Flames I doubt Jankowski will crash and burn. He may be a long shot but he is their big pick from 2012 that they will do everything in their power to help progress. I also really liked everything that was said about him at this year's prospect camp. It sounds like he is building himself up to become a NHLer and taking the process seriously.

As long as he remains in the Flames big picture and continues taking the steps forward, I feel really good about his chances to succeed.

Oh, I've defended Jankowski's progress so far, as well. It's that taking the next steps a prospect has to make is a gamble. So far Jankowski has been average but he could go the way Howse has gone or he could go as Brodie has gone. My guess is he'll probably end up like Nemizs.

It's interesting reading some comments that our prospects are so much better today than they were a few years ago. Perhaps but that's also a result of hindsight. What I'm saying is that I'm excited by our prospects but I was excited ten years ago as well, so I try and keep that in perspective.
