A friend here who is a Psychologist with children suggested that the whole hat sideways, low rider pants schtick came from Prison Culture (eg. How do any of the parents here feel about one off their boys deciding that they want to look and dress like the guy 2nd from the right? Is it harmless or is it a frikn waste of money? What would you say to your son if he came home one day dressed like that and demanded he was going to school or out with you in the same attire?

I heard that the "baggy pants" thing started because it was easier to conceal weapons and other contraband by having baggy clothes. I figured that the "low rider" pants was an extension of that... like; "Look, my pants are weighed down with so many guns that they can't stay up".
