The Arizona Cardinals do this as well for teams with large followings. It's just a marketing gimmick, if it works and brings the Preds some extra revenue, good for them.

The Hurricanes have also done this before. Like krazycanuck said, it does bring in extra revenue since you have to buy tickets to other games.

Does it? Or does it simply make out-of-towners not buy any tickets at all? I'd bet the latter.

It goes both ways. Some won't buy the extra game, some won't bother going at all, but others will. It can make those out of towners (Bhakws fans) boo the Predators for another game.

Sounds like we got a good Nashville/Chicago rivalry starting. Rivalries = $$$

Canuck fans are a special breed though. They'll show up to a Flames/Wild game decked out in Canuck gear. They'd happily take the second ticket just to act like the ######s they are.

Is it really that bad? Chicago is 7 hours away. While I'm guessing there are still some legacy Blackhawk fans in Nashville, the problem can't be as "bad" as Calgary-Vancouver or Ottawa-Toronto.

The only thing I'd like to see is to corral all the opposing teams fans into a section blocked off by chicken wire like they do in soccer.

Canucks fans are bad for that, but the trolls probably only show up to a couple of un-Canucks related Flames games a year.

Rider fans though do that for the Stampeders all the time. I bet somewhere between 5-10% of the Stamps season ticket base are Rider fans. Some will wear Stamps colors and cheer for the Stamps at all the non-Rider games and a selection of them will show up to each and every Stamps home game fully decked out in Riders gear just to troll Stamps fans.

And in both cases, you're dealing with fan bases that have severe inferiority complex issues.

The last time I watched a Hawks/Preds game in Nashville, the announcers were going in about it the whole game, and showed many shots of the crowd to show how many Hawks fans there were. On TV it appeared to be worse than any Canucks or Oilers invasion at the Saddledome I've ever seen, honestly.

I have no problem with this, as I imagine Blackhawks games are in high demand. It sucks for your fan base to be deprived off seeing one of the best teams in the league because your building is over run by your oppositions fans. Can you imagine what a slap in the face it would be for Flames fans if we couldn't see Gretzky and those great Oiler's teams because fans of the Oilers bought up all the tickets.

Phoenix would be in an even worse mess if it weren't for fans of the visiting team.

They contact me all the time to buy tickets, and I only ever went to one game there.

Really? I was at a Steelers/Cardinals game in AZ 2 years ago and the crowd was at minimum 50% Steelers fans.

Terrible move by the Preds IMO. I personally love rubbing it in to Oil and Nucks fans after a Flames win, and I know I hate it when they do the same back, but that's part of what makes professional sports fun.

Good on Nashville

I wish the flames would do everything possible to limit Oiler and Canuck fans.

How many casual preds fans have a crap experience because of hawk fans? How many future ticket buyers might be enticed to see the cup champs but can't a ticket because of hawk fans. Maybe not a tonne, but if they can sell the seats to locals they should.

It was pretty cool having Jets fans competing with Flames fans for noise last year.

Shouldn't let them get away with that nonsense again, though.

So I roll into my predominantly sth section, only to find six jets clad fans in the middle of the section. I immediately begin laying down the ground rules. Cheering is fine and will be tolerated. Heckling, taunting, and vulgarity will not. A few references about the random obnoxious oiler and Canucks fans, and how not to act, concluded my pre-anthem rant.

They supported their team, unsuccessfully tried to out cheer our section, and good times were had by all.

No it wasn't. If they want to cheer for their precious Jets, let them move back to Manitoba. Live in Calgary, cheer for the Flames!
