Great story! A real dream come true. Thanks for sharing.
On a side note, surprised to see Gorges wearing his team jersey. I heard that pro players don't wear their team jerseys at these games and, if they do, they wear them inside out.
i stayed in kelowna for about a month last year and i met josh georges sister megan at okanagan peak performance, very nice girl, luke schenn is painted on the wall at prospera, very cool post
That is awesome man. I'm guessing as the summer goes on more and more NHL players will be skating in that group as a bunch live in the kelowna area.
Back in 2005 during the lockout I skated 3 days with a bunch of NHL players at a rink up in St.Albert (Including Iginla).
From what I remember players included Iggy, Laraque, Moreau, Pisani, Chimera, Statios, Strudwick and a few more that I can't recall since it was so long ago. Memorable moments included Laraque trying to pitch fork me 10 feet in the air after I beat him wide at center, Statios taking me into the end boards going after a loose puck, Chimera chipring me about how the Flames 04 run was a fluke (nice guy was just giving me a hard time) and some AJHL kid looking off Iggy on a 2 on 1 and the entire bench, which included Oilers, saying something along the lines of "You don't look off the best player in the show".
You get an appreciation for how good these guys are, I remember Pisani was shockingly unreal and could dangle everybody out there, 2nd best player on the ice next to Iggy. Also Chimera is the fastest person I've ever seen on skates.

yea - i was really surprised that he wore a habs practice jersey... mind you, last week myers was out one night and he was in full sabres gear, including a practice jersey.
i guess these were practice jerseys with no name/numbers on them.... so maybe that's ok?? if i get lucky enough to 'get the call' again i'll try to remember to ask them about wearing the jerseys

It was awesome – the goalie coach was Amanda Tapp from the University of Calgary Dinos – she was a fantastic instructor!! Anyways - the highest level of hockey I’ve ever played is in men’s beer league hockey (for the past 4 years).
Just want to pipe in and toot her horn as well. I worked with Amanda last year at a beginner hockey camp. I've only been a goalie for 2 years and only played hockey the last 4 and she was phenomenal. Definitely had some great drills and advice that helped my game and never made me feel like the novice I am. Loved working with her.

Thank you for everything CP. Good memories and thankful for everything that has been done to help me out. I will no longer take part on these boards. Take care, Go Flames Go.
oh no... he blew a couple by me. it is unbelievable how stinking fast the shots come off their sticks - the power and speed are ridiculous!!!
it was either Comeau or Gorges that let one go and it caught me in the upper right chest... that thing STUNG!!! and that's where the chest gear is the thickest... 3 layers of padding!! i can't imagine what taking a Chara slap shot would be like!!!
....oh.... that reminds me - i asked Gorges what it's like to play against Chara and he looked me straight in the eyes and said, 'that is one HUGE man!!'
Of course they scored.......YOU SUCK.
BTW, my jealousy is extreme. You are a lucky ####.

Congrats man! It's always fun if you get a chance to play with guys who've been in "the show".
ha... i don't know how anyone can eat right before going out on the ice... i do my best to not eat at least 2.5 - 3 hours before game time... otherwise i feel like i want to puke... and that's just gross as a goalie!

ha! ha! i look at it this way... i'm good for the moral of the men... they feel good about lighting up a keeper, so if any of these pros have break out seasons i think i'll deserve a bit of credit for building their confidence!
