I've had my S4 for a couple months now and I'm glad I made the switch from Apple. Previously had an IP4, so I needed an upgrade.

i have the nexus 4, GS3, GS4 and the HTC One, by far I like the HTC One more than the GS4. It's not even close.

My friend has a one and it's nice, but I can't live without the removable battery and extendable memory

Fair point, I just don't store that much stuff on my phone and my battery typically lasts more than a day so that's not a big deal to me either. For me the build quality of the HTC one is many steps ahead of the GS4 and it's just a delight to hold and use.

Agreed. I must use my phone more, but my biggest grievance with all smart phones is when I travel for business my phone is empty before I get home. I simply can't deal with that. The memory issue has actually never been a problem, but hey, could be

So, I'm heading to the US tomorrow. Can I buy an S4 or HTC One (or even i5) down there and then use my Fido sim card back at home? US phones are sold unlocked, right?
Before this thread, I was sure I was going to ditch Apple (and ancient iphone3) and get the S4 ... Then there was so much praise in here about the HTC One. Back to a dilemma...

US Phones are not necessarily unlocked, anymore than Canadian phones would be.
You might want to at least consider the Moto-X as well. It is Motorola's first phone that was developed entirely since Google took over. I really haven't looked into it, but it is being regarded as having an extremely impressive set of features.

sorry for a bit of an offtopic post here.
i am on the old BB (9900) and my work is rolling out htc 8S. They are going with windows phone since it has full Lync support, which is a big deal as a lot of our organizational communication is using lync.
any thoughts on the 8S? my only loyalty to the BB is for the keyboard, but it feels like such an old phone now. Also, i'm not a big app guy (outside maps/whatsapp am not much of an app downloader).
Anyone have anything good/bad to say about the 8S?
Much appreciated.

I've got an 8S - it's a well-built phone like anything from HTC, but it's already pretty dated in terms of power and features. 2x1Ghz, 512MB Ram, 4GB storage, low-res screen, no LTE, etc. Shame they're not rolling out the 8X, it's a much better phone.
Coming from a BlackBerry it will probably feel like a rocket

Omg another windows phone user...I'm not alone. I've felt like a damn California condor out here in the 4 months I've been a WP user. Seriously, I take the thing out and people are like, what the hell is that thing? A galaxy with some hacked homebrew android skin?

On the other side of things, whenever I see a Windows phone, it's like seeing a beautiful and mysterious unicorn that has pranced out into the open if only for a moment.
Then I look back at my elephant of an Android device, shrug and bury myself in whatever I was doing.
