George's just aint what it used to be for burgers. It used to be amazingly huge portions and awesome burgers for a long time but the last couple of times I was there I found the quality to be somewhat lacking.

Go to Mitzi's around the corner from The Pyramid for awesome homemade chicken strips.

some definete 5 star places mentioned here (Sata Lucia, Georges, Burger Factory and VJ's).

One place I'd like to mention is Mitzi's downtown. The chicken fingers this place used to make are some kind of awesome. If you go there, get there at by 11.40 or wait until about 12.45.

Thank me later.

Don't have anything with mayo on it near the Fringe.

Falafel Place&Deli - on Corodyn, east of the main drag (east of Harrow, corner of Corodyn and Wilton). My husband loves their "Falafel Heaven" plate, I'm partial to their matzo ball soup and yam fries.

Superboys - Main street - amazing burgers. I second George's for great burgers.

Sorrento's on south Pembina Hwy - I think it has another name, but it is tasty.

Oh and Mitzi's - it's gone downhill but I still love to go to Mitzi's when we're in town.

I know I'm forgetting a ton of good restaurants - that's one thing that Winnipeg has in spades.

I know what you mean. 20 years ago I would have never included Junior's in the same sentance; as George's was the clear winner. However I have found that Junior's seems to be far more consistant. The only time I will go to George's now is the one on St. Mary's Rd just north of St. Vital Centre; and only for dine in at lunch.

My sister lives 1 block away from the one on Pembina, and I will only go there if there is no chance to go elsewhere.

Have to second this recommendation. I used to live right by the old location and make a point of going back here every time I'm back in the city. The Israeli falafel (with fries on top) is my go to.

Not 100%. The only way to be 100% is to kill the "actors" and commercially produce mayonaise following their internment.

So sad the Grant is no more. I have had some of the best worst experiences of my life in that place.

ITALIAN

DeLuca's is a great place for Italian food and a favourite lunch stop of mine when I lived there. It's that type of Italian food that tastes just like Nonna made it. Nice central location at 950 Portage Ave. http://www.deluca.ca
We tried to go to DeLuca's but they close at 1:30 on Mondays and it was a late lunch.
It will have to wait until next time.
Thanks

If you're looking for something fast and Winnipeg(ian?) hit up one of the Salisbury Houses'.

Kinda like a diner/burger joint, but unique to Winnipeg, maybe Manitoba. Pretty good.
