yeah he isnt a young guy anymore, but he isnt "old" either. The Flames are re-building true...but you still need solid character guys who have experience in what it takes to play in the NHL. He is a perfect example of this in that he was a bit of a longshot to even make the show. Not only did he make it, he is a contributor in all phases of the game. He is on a very reasonable contract and seems like a quiet leader on a team with a need for that.
Just my 2 cents.

I don't feel it's a burning desire to rid ourselves of Stempniak, more an issue of continued asset management as it contributes to the rebuild. It's unlikely that on deadline day the Flames will have a lineup of teams looking to auction the likes of stajan, Stempniak, jackman, Cammy, etc. to the highest bidder. That said, I think we should certainly be prepared to field offers that promote the future of this franchise. If that means Stempniak goes based on market demand, so be it. While I would prefer to ditch stajan and Cammy and keep Stempniak moving forward, I don't want to pass by the deadline without adding future assets. If no one is buying what we are selling, we may have to add to the available list.
I completely agree with your desire to keep Stempniak through the rebuild process if he is agreeable. I simply see him as our most desirable asset come deadline day.
