Were they waiting for his physicals results today before they made their decision? Maybe he's grown into his body enough to make it a good sign he is on the right track.
Either way, certainly gives him an extra hitch in his giddyup for the prospect camp!

Looks like we're not the only ones who question the decision.
Roger Millions (@RogMillions) Interesting Mark Jankowski added to Canada's Jr. Summer Camp. Ryan Jankowski HC's new Head Scout. #allinthefamily

If you're a Canadian player taken in the first round of the last two drafts, odds are you get an invite from hockey Canada. There's no conspiracy; mark is a damn good player.

How is the response looking for trouble? You made an ill conceived comment and people jumped all over it. Your initial post is a good way to look for trouble IMO.
That being said, I do see what you are saying, but it certainly is a combination of factors that got him the invite (such as being an NHL 1st round pick). In any event, he deserves any opportunity that is thrown his way and certainly this could be a boon in his development, playing with some of the best players on Team Canada.

I love how everyone is jumping on Moon for "uncle comment", but Roger Millions pretty much made the same sugestion.
Being a first round pick helped, but i am sure if it came down to 2 players to choose from it does not hurt having the uncle as head scout.
While i have high hopes for the Jankowski, he did not exactly set the world on fire in his first year in NCAA. He did not play bad, but he was not great either. I presume there were Canadians in NCAA with better stats than him.

Happy for him. Will be a real good opportunity for him. It'll be nice to see how he matches up against some elite talent.

Even if he doesn't make it on the final roster, I'll be happy to see how he compares with other high end prospects around the league. It's always a little harder to get a serious idea where ncaa guys stand in comparison to their chl counterparts.

The point wasn't that his uncle got him on the team (don't think that kind of crap happens at the WJHC level) but that he is a guy that could have fallen through the cracks and having a guy that knows a lot about him makes sense as to why he may have been brought up in the conversation as opposed to being passed over in such a tight competition with so many deserving guys.
I think he is on the team because the team canada staff think he is good enough not his because his uncle is the Head Scout. Just makes more sense to me that they looked at him.

What centers do you have ranked ahead of Jankowski then? I don't think he makes it if MacKinnon, Laughton and Monahan are available. If they are not, I think Jankowski makes the team. Curious who you have in that camp that are ahead of Jankowski's development. I think he would be one of the more skilled centers available, and with size which is always an advantage (especially when that size can skate).
Gauthier and Gaunce are less talented and fit the 4th line checking line. Domi and Horvat are arguably ahead - but you can argue that Jankowski is ahead as he spent the past year playing at a higher level, and will have another 1/3 season or so of additional experience in a higher league. Not sure where to rank Lazar as compared to the rest. Reinhart is a wildcard - he could be ahead of all of them (well, the ones that are expected to make summer camp at least). There are others as well, but I don't see them clear-cut 'better' than Jankowski. If he has a good camp, and starts his season well, he will simply be on the team I think.
I think it was TSN that re-ranked the 2012 draft by polling scouts, and Jankowski was ranked 25th from that draft. Keep in mind that it includes all non-Canadian players as well. Seems to be a legitimate prospect who isn't too far back from the crowd if at all, in my opinion.

Total garbage.
He's a scout - naming people to the roster wouldn't be up to him. Also, he was the head scout earlier, when the original roster was put together without Mark on it.
Pretty simple process: they would have a list. Some guys aren't going to make it, so invite the next guys on the list.
Attempting to read more into it than that is asinine.

The high competition and exposure is nothing but good for his development. Don't care how he got there, just hope that it is a growing experience for him,

Great news. Hopefully he makes it and excels.
I know Jankowski was supposed to be a long term project, but with him already rumoured to be up to 190 lbs, if he has a solid year in providence, makes the world junior squad and has a good tourney, and continues to pack muscle onto his frame, I could see him turning pro as early as next off season.
I have no problem waiting, but that'd be great if he was able to make the jump sooner.

More than likely Jankowski made the invite on his own merit, but its pretty naive of CP to think that under no circumstance that his uncle could have played a role if need be.
I trust Roger Millions to know more about the workings in the background than anybody on CP. Even his tweet seems to ponder that his uncle might have played a role. If he did not think there was any chance that his uncle played a role, he would have just congradulated the player like he does on most of his tweets.

Wether his uncle gave him an inside track or not it doesn't really matter as he got added which is all that matters. This will be a good experience for him to see where he's at in his development and where he has to go.

You are free to put that elevated faith in Millions - but he has no inside access to HC that I am aware of, or that he has demonstrated in the past. So I don't share your opinion.
His tweet was garbage too, and the fact that he is a media personality doesn't change that. However, if he would care to provide any evidence or reasoning behind his accusation, I would love to see it.
Again, we are talking about Hockey Canada here and a national team tryout camp. It isn't dad pressuring the coach to get his kid on the team.
