Holy crow I have no idea how some of you tracked this stuff. Honestly if we see the same amount of conditions this year we may have to re-think allowing some many of them.
Anyways I've deleted all the ones that were emailed. Email again if any remain that should be gone.

Just take away the option of a condition, easy.

It won't. taking thjat way is easy and it will simply make GM's offer up other stuff in deals. Hell my first reaction is to make a dumb condition of adding a 2nd or 3rd before the draft instead of just throwing a 2nd or a 3rd pick but if it wasnt an option I would just add the pick.
You take the conditions away now and in 2 years no one would even miss it.

I don't know if they should be eliminated all-together, but maybe have a limit of 5 Draft Pick owing conditions or something?
At one time it did cross my mind that maybe conditions shouldn't be allowed to be used for owing draft picks at all, but instead used only for actual "conditional" picks owed, ie. "If xxxxx player retires, z team owes y team a 2nd" or "If z team makes 3rd round of playoffs, 2nd becomes a 1st" kinda things. Because really, just owing a pick in the future is not really a conditional pick.
That said, I do think the current system allows for more trades at the time and creates more trades down the road as teams are forced to make trades to re-acquire or waive picks owed. Would not mind a limit at all though.

I think it is on GMs to be reasonable with the conditions. Some of the ones I've seen on roster pages are crazy. I definitely had a few but I try to limit them to simple ones like Ducks owe a team 2nd rd pick. Even then 90% of the time I just ask the team for a day to pick up a 2nd and I go get one elsewhere. I hate making the trades with seven conditions based on different results cough MJK cough.

I hate it to! I only do it because it is an option! Take away the option and I find something else to make it work.

I think that the existing system to track the conditions is lacking.
If it could be improved to allow teams to clear their own conditions, to be a little more standardized in the language used and to be less less ambiguous, it would probably be fine.

What about conditions like "in the event this player retires...." though? I think that we should still have these and they should be spelled out clearly. I'm fine wit some kind of limit if it makes things easier, but I think that we should still have conditions.

I think we take everything away even this. If you take on a guy close to retirement you take the gamble.

Well if that is the will of the league, I guess that is fine. I think that will kill some deals for sure though.

Until the condition system blows up and someone defaults I don't see an issue. As confusing and crazy as the last season was, all conditions were met and settled. It's on the GM of a team sort out the mess he/she creates.
Conditions allow you hedge on value. It's an interesting dynamic, I think.
