Could they not have rolled the dice and hoped he'd be there 6 picks later and gone with the safer pick? I'm not sold on this pick at all but for now will trust in Weisbroad and co.

Yeah I'm not really sure why people freak out about "off the board" picks. "The board" is just some made up list. Every team has different lists depending on what they feel their needs are, and the qualities they look for in players. Feaster just said they had him in their top 10. Numbers are pretty good.

Seems like we should have been able to drop a few spots and still get this guy.

Looks like a good prospect, but probably would have been available a few spots down. Why not take a lesson from Detroit, trade down, and add a late round pick in the process?

Don't see why Flames couldn't pick him up at the 28th pick, but welcome to the Flames Emile! He has pretty good numbers and hearing how he fast and talented is good to hear.

But Shinkaruk and Zykov were still left on the board. :/

I'm just glad they pissed on Fucale! Phew!

Bad team and had the best numbers on his team.

I'll give Feaster and co. the benefit of the doubt.

At least they didn't pick a goalie, folks.

Give it time, might end up being a great pick....no sense flipping out over something we know the result of for a couple years.

to me, that sounds like they want to trade down from 28 and feared that Poirier wouldn't be there at their new position. Just my 2 cents though and probably completely wrong

It looks like they will trade 28 so they picked this guy now as part of their plan.

I like the fact that he's over 6'0 and an excellent skater. Stats were good last year, too. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt on this.

Speed, skill and size. Just not a name people know. But really why did people prefer Zykov over this guy? Just because he was higher on the lists? The approach is still skill. Like that

People aren't mad they picked him, it's where they picked him.

Could have picked Shinkaruk then this guy at 28, or traded down for a 25th and a 2nd rounder at picked him at 25.

All of this "he had a ton of interest" is just Feaster covering his ass. He said the same thing last year.
