[Trade] Flames acquire Shane O'Brien and David Jones for Tanguay and Sarich

Jones can play on the 3rd line on a crap tem and add size.

O'Brien is no better than Sarich but younger.

For all those that thought Tanguay had value, this is your answer.

I am and big fan of Tanguay too but he has lost a step. I'd always hope for more in return but I think this is an OK move.

Good trade. Fills two holes while giving up a guy who didn't fit in, at a position the Flames have depth in, and another guy who was a press-box fixture in the twilight of his career.

People who thought we'd get top picks or prospects for Tanguay were kidding themselves. We're lucky Sakic and Roy are buddies of Tanguay.

David Jones has a 4 mil cap hit through 15/16.

Shane O'Brien has a 2 mil cap hit through 14/15.

The writing was on the wall for Tanguay. I don't think he would have performed well next season. You can tell he lost all motivation after Iggy was traded.

O'Brien is an upgrade over Sarich.

I don't like this trade. Sarich was a warrior for us and probably could have commanded some kind of asset at the deadline. O'Brien is a bum.

I would have liked to see some kind of pick coming our way, tbh. The Avs got the more valuable players in this deal. But I guess it's par for course with Jay Feaster running the phones.

haha Sarich for Obrien is a wash, no biggy.

But Jones is getting 4mill a year until 2015/16 and has only scored over 40 points once.

Last year he had 9 points (3g, 6 A) in 33 games. Brutal.

No issue getting rid of Tanguay but kinda angry we took on Jones's contract which is worse than Tanguays.

Doesnt make much sense really.

Jones is signed for 3 more years at 4M per. Hopefully he can regain his scoring touch.

I don't mind this. Flames get younger and bigger.
