$5,000 - $8,000
Saw a couple of nice escalades... Problem is I'm not a douch. Well that I know of.

Have you looked down in the states? I have been thinking about it for a year, yeah I am a slow thinker. If you look around you can find some good deals, just do you homework on bringing it back into the country.

There are people on here that have experience with bringing vehicles back.

PS: is you wore a shell suit you could pull of the Escalade.........

I am really happy with my Mitsubishi RVR. If I were you I'd at least take a look at an outlander.

Thinking about it - but it generally seems more for the higher priced vehicles before age has depreciated away a lot of the value.

That said - I'd be open to it, but the math doesn't seem to make a ton of sense (without looking). Saving 10% - 20% on $30,000 makes it a bit easier to cover the cost of trip, importing, and taking on a bit of risk. Can the same be said for spending $5,000 - $10,000?

Don't even bother importing a car that's under 10k (and even thats low). After all the inspections, possible required modifications, and importing fees (never mind time and money to get down there), you're not going to save much of anything. It only makes sense if you're buying relatively expensive cars or something unique you can't find up here.

I got a Sunflower. I take solace in the fact that it could have been much, much worse (the Aztek).

My family has a Honda Pilot. It's more of a "soccer mom" SUV but it still hauls ass.

What you actually need is a pick-up. I wouldn't look at anything else. It's silly to buy a car that doesn't fit what are pretty specific yet versatile needs you have.

Go crew cab and put a nice topper on the back. It will look SUVish that way, but be the vehicle you need.

Buying a Land Rover with an $8K budget is not a good idea, but it sounds like you see that.

Why not get it down to 3-4 vehicle, put up a poll and you agreed to go with whatever is decided by CP............What could go wrong?

We went from a Yukon Denali to a 12 f-150 and I wouldn't ever go back to the SUV. More interior in a crew cab and more hauling.

Picked up an 05 Ford Expedition, Eddie Bauer, 5.4L, 150,000 km for $6,000.
Feel pretty good about the purchase. Has some body dings - but, it's $6,000 so I'm not sure you can really expect much.
