I'm beginning to wonder whether Mike Duffy has been a LPC plant all along.

The latest revelation .....

Quote:
A well-placed source told CTV’s Ottawa Bureau Chief Robert Fife that Duffy approached a Conservative insider with connections to the CRTC three weeks ago to discuss Sun Media, which is asking the federal regulator to grant its news channel “mandatory carriage,” or guaranteed placement on basic cable and satellite packages.

The move would boost Sun News Network’s profile and revenues.

“You know people at the CRTC,” the insider quoted Duffy as saying. “This is an important decision on Sun Media. They have to play with the team and support Sun Media’s request.”

Sen. Pamela Wallin is the next to fall.

This must be how the Conservatives plan to get rid of the Senate.

I'm not getting what "removing themselves from the Conservative caucus" does. They may sit as independents, but who's kidding who.... they will be voting with the Conservatives on every vote. They know who put them there. What kind of punishment is it to remove them from caucus? They still get the same pay and perks. They seem to be making this grand gesture of attrition. "I'm removing myself from the Conservative caucus to keep from being a distraction to the caucus. I make this difficult sacrifice as the honourable thing to do giving the situation." The HONOURABLE thing to do in this situation would be to resign.

I have no doubt at all that Duffy had the means to repay the 90k himself. I suspect he just refused to, since he thought he had done nothing wrong. Hence the 90k "gift" to make the problem go away.

CTV breaking the news is very interesting. I wonder if he bragged about it to a former co-worker who was more interested in a scoop than staying buddies with Duffy.

But then why lie about it? Duffy said he went to the Royal Bank and got a loan to pay it off while the PMO says Nigel Wright cut him a personal cheque. Whole thing stinks. There needs to be an investigation with real consequences.

Frustrating that the outcome is that they keep their 150k a year for life jobs and just "leave the party caucus". Hopefully there is more fallout to come.

And his chief of staff resigning is totally meaningless since everybody knows he'll just be working with Harper in another capacity.

What are the ethics of passing populist legislation that anyone in their right mind knows will detrimental to the country?

Wouldn't high ethical standards be evidenced by no resignations since none would be required?

I think, and it is a guess, that hey are trying to say they hold each other accountable.

This is a disaster and the opposition is entitled to rip them to shreds for this.

I am so embarrassed that she is my MP. We tried so hard to defeat her but she got voted in by the usual mindless Conservative vote.

Same with us. I guess one thing you can say is that she's staying true to her election campaign platform - to be Harper's lap dog.

You only feel this way because you haven't lost your passport yet.

That's pretty much the campaign she ran on - support the leader and help with passports. You go Joan!
