Not sure the penguins can give up on him already. Do they have anybody in the system to replace him?

Acquiring Fleury is pointless until you know what Berra and Ramo's potential are.

I actually suggested that in another thread. Iggy calls up Kipper and tells him to play his last year. Feaster would be more than happy to trade him to Pitt for a pick.

We shouldn't be giving up any more assets for goaltenders.

Nope.
We have so many goalies without NHL experience, let's see what they can do and in turn figure out what we really have for the next couple of years while the team is being built.

If we didn't have so many goaltending prospects already, i wouldn't mind having a guy like fleury. He's a good goalie and most likely probably needs a change of scenery. With vokoun playing well and may likely be re-signed, fleurys going to have to compete for the #1 spot.
And if that happens, I can see fleury wanting out as he'd rather start and be a back up. I'd rather see this possibly young team next season try and win every game with a goalie like fleury. If it doesn't happen, I hope ramo and the other goalie and macdonld can do it.

I got a feeling that the flames will be giving up assets after this season for a goalie. Don't have much faith in the 2 "best goalies outside the NHL" . Brossoit and Gilles are 3-4 years away from a starting job.

Who cares if people have faith... we've already spent assets on Berra and Ramo. Why trade valuable pieces for them if you aren't going to try them out?
Only one goalie can be in net at a time. It'd be ridiculously stupid to spend even a 5th rounder on another goaltender. It's not like we're preparing for a Stanley Cup run and need a goaltender... we really won't be needing one for a while. If Ramo or Berra turn into starting goaltenders before that, fantastic, we didn't need to spend anything on Fleury.

... and take on Fleury IF it has PIT sweeten the pot to save on the Cap space.

I never said the flames should not try them out. I said that i don't think it will work. After that they can't just keep putting them in the net because they spent assets on them. If spending assets on a goaltender means you have to keep playing them for years no matter what, then they might as well let Irving have a year at #1.
Sorry but i am no longer drinking a sip of the "kool-aid" that Feaster is selling. Hopefully the goalies and other pickups can prove me wrong, but it will be their play that will make me think they are good and not words out of an inept GM like Feaster.

I'd take a chance on him for cheap, but that's it. Way too inconsistent for the quality of the d-corps infront of him.

I'd only think about it if he'd agree to wear #14 and let everyone call him "Theo".

Mike Smith is a UFA so why not go after him if he chooses not to sign with Phoenix.

If the trade cost is reasonable absolutely you try and get him. Shero is a savvy GM who won't be letting him go for a song though.

Decent goalies aren't that difficult to find, most teams seem to have at least a capable one. Great goalies are harder to find, but Fleury isn't a great goalie. Fleury doesn't seem to be a guy that would benefit the Flames in any way, I'd rather they try to find a gem amongst their many prospects than try to resurrect Fleury's game. No way he's going to come here and be a Vezina level goalie so whats the point of giving up any assets at all for him.
