SAKIC: I’m not going to go into who the candidates are going to be. But obviously we want a very passionate coach. Obviously a change of culture, we need that winning attitude down in the dressing room. I believe we have some real quality young players on our team, great players. They’re still young that are learning and we want to have a coach here who can lead them along.
Patrick Roy is about as passionate as they come. Hmm....

"Passionate" can be taken a number of ways. "Passionate" in the fact of being over-emotional and turning the spotlight on to himself? Then that's Roy. Passionate about coaching and developing players? That's still passionate, in a different way.
Though the position of Sakic is interesting. Is there a position in the Flames for this title type of job, of a younger, recently (last 6-7 years) retired player? If it means the hire is an outside one from Edwards, and it means him, and King will step away from the involvement they have in the on ice operations, and this guy takes their place presiding over Feaster, then I think so. It would be a shift in the management, rather than pure turnover. It would infuse new outside blood/ideas, and shows the hockey world that things are an arms length distance from King/Edwards/owners with a well respected person in that role.
I don't think Feaster would like that new layer in there above him and all that involved having a new boss.
