Lundqvist wins because he plays in New York.

In principle if you are one of the leagues best players your performance should drag a team to they playoffs. One elite defenseman, or Forward, or Goalie should get you to the playoffs with mediocre players around them.
Outside of that Andersons stats are better and with injuries he played on a worse team.

Not even worth debating.

And elite players miss the playoffs all the time. Iginla in 2002 was elite, didn't stop the Flames from missing the playoffs.
If you're arguing that Anderson was a better goalie in the games he played, that's a very fair argument. In the end, it's hard to say. Would he have done just as good if he played the full season? Maybe, maybe not. Crosby should have won the Art Ross but the injury prevented him, it's a bit more cut and dry when dealing with points but it's close to the same principal.
If you're arguing that Bobrovsky wasn't the best goalie (of the healthy ones) because his team didn't make the playoffs, that's an incredibly stupid argument.

An Elite player can miss the playoffs. The best player at his position cannot.

Miss 2002? Iginla was the best player in the game, let alone his position.

I hate to say this but Henry Lundqvist will win this award for 3 reasons : #1. he plays in the East and for one of the biggest market in the league. #2. He is tied for the most wins in the NHL this season. #3. Rangers made the playoffs and Columbus didn't. Sharks and Niemi struggled early.
I know the GM are responsible for picking the Vezina and they voted after the regular season so whatever happened in the playoffs won't affect the voting. Do I think Lundqvist deserves it? Maybe not and maybe I am rooting Bobrovski to win it because he is the underdog and the media just made fun of him the past few seasons while playing for the Flyers.

How bout the preds? Weber is an elite defenceman and they had to surround him with essentially an ahl team due to injuries and they don't even come close, should he have been able to drag them into the playoffs or is it a matter of seeing his stats take a hit because of who he was made to play with this year

Was weber the best defensemen in the league this year? Is anyone saying that he should win the Norris? No, because his team was terrible. Is your arguement that Weber should be nominated for the Norris because he played well despite being on a terrible team?
I should correct my previos statement, one elite playey wont drag his team to the playoffs but if you have the best player in the league at their position that year you sould be in the playoffs.

How? Even the best defenseman is only on the ice 30 minutes. Pretty easy to lose the game in the other 30.

Yeah sorry GGG but what you said earlier in this thread just isn't defensible. Hockey is a team game and one single player can't singlehandedly drag a team into the playoffs no matter how great they are. There's lots of historical examples to back that up and examples from this year ^ (Stamkos)

I would'nt have an issue if Lundqvist finally won. The guy has been carving himself out a nice career having been nominated for the Vezina 5 times, and I hope he wins one before his career is over.
But I think Bob will take it, and if so it will be the biggest slap in the face to the Flyers ever! The Flyers are a team who haven't had an elite #1 goalie for over 25 years. Last was was Hextal I believe. Then they trade away one who wins the freakin' vezina the very next season. Awesomeness.

I see your Iginla and raise you Mario Lemieux. Many times early in his career.
