On behalf of TTC and myself, I would like to say the Stampede sucks.
Seriously, can this thing be any more predictable and repetitive.
Ooooooh... a new daring fried food!
Oooooooh... more B-grade washed up musicians!
Ooooooooh... the same old diesel powered, 5th rate, ghetto carnival rides!
Ooooooooh... Tracked marked carnies emptying your wallet for a highly flamable, stuffed walrus worth 6 bucks.
Oooooooooh... I got so drunk last night and contracted herpes from some disease bag ho at Ranchmans.
Ooooooooooh... More dead horses to make our festival and city look like a bunch of slack-jawed rednecks to the international community.
Maybe one year if they actually change the thing up, and do something meaningful with it, I would get the hype. But the thing has barely changed in the 30 something years I have lived here and remember it.

I thought Big Wreck was booed off stage last time they played the Coke Stage. Mind you that was like 12 years ago.

The Stampede needs a major makeover. Still looks like it did 20 years ago. I hope the attendance sucks this year.

The best part of Stampede is the partying and general merriment that takes over the city off the grounds anyway (with the exception of the rodeo/chucks, which are always good fun).
Although I wish the Stampede would step up their game in terms of entertainment. It would've been nice if some of the acts from Badlands Festival were playing the at Stampede grounds rather than up at COP.

Well, it is undergoing a major makeover:

The Riverfront Park sounds particularly fantastic.

Surprised (or maybe not) to see this thread lying dormant since May; to the delight of TurnedTheCorner, I thought it would be worth bumping
Anybody planning on going to the parade tomorrow? My wife wants to take our two little ones, but I'm assuming the view will suck unless you get there at the crack of dawn?

Happy Stampede 101, everyone! It's the ten best days of the year, every year.
Even more special given what everyone has had to go through to get to this point for this year's Stampede.
All the best to everyone attending the parade today.
I love this city.

Simply not true, I get it you don't like the Stampede but many many people do.
Plus it attacks MAJOR attention for Calgary.

Maybe you didn't have to get down there bright and early to get a good spot. On my train ride in this was easily the lowest amount of people I can remember on a train for parade morning (and I've taken the train parade day 7 or 8 years now). Bridlewood station is usually full by 6 or so on an average day and wasn't full this morning.

Serena Ryder might be one that I check out. Sadly no Lee Aaron or Loverboy this year
