V8 drink has too much sodium and sugar!
I keep a loaf of multi-grain bread and PB as a snack before lunch

I want to eat whatever I brought. It's pretty simple.
I bring leftovers from the night before, and 95% of the things we eat are thing I enjoy, so it's not a big stretch to say I will probably like what I am eating for lunch.
The days where we have some horrid stuff for dinner, or don't have any leftovers, I run over to Safeway and grab a sub.

I like what I make so it's pretty simple really. It's also far easier for me to eat healthy if I bring a lunch.

We have been struggling for a while. We did the south beach diet and they made us meal plan (which we could swap out meals, fish is gross) and shopping list. They stopped providing the shopping list so we cancelled that, I think it was $5/mo.
Now we are on the dash diet and just made a weekly meal plan and shopping list and just repeat. Today is Tuna melt with an apple and milk. Since I don't have an easybake oven on my desk, it is just a tuna sandwich.
Making the time to prepare the food is pretty tough. When we don't have groceries, it is Subway or a donair platter.

Chinatown is only a couple of blocks away. Lots of places there, and is marginally more expensive than fast food.. sometimes the same.

Any time I want to lose weight I just bring lunch from home. I will lose 1lb a week just from that change. My problem with making lunches is deciding what to bring if we don't have leftovers

My lunch staple is brown rice and chicken breast. Set your oven to 350 degrees, take a pan with some sort of grill in it. Place chicken breasts on grill. Mix grape seed/olive oil with cayenne pepper, cinnamon, salt, pepper and parsley. Plaster up those cb's, throw em in for 50 minutes or so. Take them out, let them cool and then individually wrap in ziploc bags, put in freezer. Pull a new one out as needed the day before.
I mix brown rice with a rice medley from costco, has a bunch of barley and quinoa and other stuff in it. Throw that in the rice maker. Total prep time some where around 10 minutes, cook time 50-60.
Do that every Sunday you will have multiple meals ready to go for the week as needed. It sounds plain but honestly don't knock it till you try it, I am addicted to it and have eaten it probably 15/20 business days a month for the past 2 years and still love it.

I am trying this paleo thing, so I try and plan my meals out on Sunday and like I said, I usually make two portions at dinner and bring one for lunch the next day.
Today/last night was chipotle meatballs with guacamole and tonight I'm making a chicken soup.

A few different suggestions for people on the west side of downtown:
- Co-op on 11th & 11th does a bunch of different lunch option. My favourite is the Spolumbos meatball sandwich
- Pearl Fantasy chinese food on 10th st and 6th ave does a $6 take-out buffet.
- Falafal City on Kensington between 11A and 12 streets does great chicken schwarma. The medium is pretty big. Don't get the large unless they give you nap time at work.

I've been trying to eat healthy and affordably. I buy groceries and leave them in the fridge at work.
-Whole wheat pita wrap (130 calories) with chicken breast and hot sauce.
-Combo of carrots/snap peas/broccoli
-(2) turkey meat sticks.
-Followed by a protein bar in the afternoon.
