You might change your tune a little after seeing the 160,000 mile (257,000+ km) torture test Ford put a random, off the line ecoboost through:

I prefer to trust non-biased information from people who have actually owned the truck for a long period of time.

I will admit that a Ford would likely be my first choice for a truck from a domestic maker (although that term doesn't really have much meaning anymore as Tundras have been made in the US since 1999).

It looks pretty impressive towing those logs but the thing is I've towed logs as big as that with my 4 cylinder Ranger.

Maybe the OP should consider a Ranger then?

We have a 2012 F150 with ecoboost, absolutely love it! We haven't had a chance to tow with it but I have had it pretty loaded with junk and a box full of tree stumps and it handled it pretty awesome.

I wouldnt trade my truck for anything. We got the 3.73 rear end and tow package to have the tow capacity of 11,200 i think it is. We also bought a new trailer this year that I will be picking up this week.

The trailer salesmen said he was driving an Ecoboost with a 9000 lb dry weight trailer going 85 km/h at 1600 RPM.

Plus it looks sweet!!

lol, the fact that you've parked your F-150 in the no parking section of that parking lot makes that photo, BTW.

Nice looking truck!

Also the only F150 that can pull 11,000lbs is the 6.2L Raptor.

Edit: looks like I could be wrong about the Raptor only comment.
I googled it.But I just checked the .ca site and it does indeed list 10.4K so you are correct.

No I'm just saying that a manufacturers commercial doesn't mean much. The F150 with with ecoboost from reports of others here sounds great.

It's from when we picked it up at Metro, so I guess the picture sucks now.....

We got it for around ~$38 - 40K I think it was. Xplan pricing and heavy discounts on 2012 models at the time

We went from thre vehicles down to one. My first ever new truck and I love it. Previous truck was a beat up 99 F150. Even the wife likes driving this one, says it's like a big Escape (our last vehicle)

2 of my friends bought new Tundras. Both subsequently traded them in for Fords and are very happy with them.

Their complaints with respect to the Tundra were similar - lousy fuel mileage and quality less than expected.

I have a Silverado with the 5.3, it has been bulletproof, tows well and gets surprisingly decent mileage. Autotrac and the Eaton G80 were features that I liked on the GM products when I was shopping around. The Silverado and Sierra are all new for 2014 and might be worth a look.

Good luck shopping

I've had my 2012 F-150 for about 6 months now and absolutely love it. I test drove both the Tundra and the F-150 but the F-150 just seemed like a better value for my money and the dealer was more than willing to negotiate on price. We also found the F-150 was a more comfortable ride. I'd vote for the F-150.

Another vote for the F-150. I love my 2012 FX4, it didn't get the ecoboost, as the savings on gas were minimal over the v8 and i don't plan on hauling anything huge. I was not a fan of the styling of the tundra... and I drove a tacoma before too.

I test drove every model of full size and settled on a Ram 1500. I tow a 5300lb dry trailer and a 7100lb boat and still have passing power. I needed the extra ground clearance on the ram (almost a foot more) and I felt the f150 seemed considerably wider, which is bad news for my garage.

Don't get me wrong the ecoboost was on my list but it was 9K more for less options then I got on my Ram and that made up my mind. I really like the F150 however and think you will be more then happy.

Tundra vs F150 is not contest in my books. F150 all the way.

And to add to the list.......my last truck was a 2011 tacoma.

I have always wondered where all these F150 Trucks on the road came from, it appears it's CP!

I have an anti-Ford bias from the 1990's and 2000's when they seemed to need a major repair every 5000km. However, I'm sure they've improved and it sounds like everyone who has a newer one likes it.
At the price point of the eco-boost - I would highly recommend at least taking a Sierra or a Silverado for a test drive - love the duramax. Decent fuel economy, all the power you need and lasts forever.
Plus - they look so much better!

seems like the F150 is the clear winner in this poll.

We look forward to seeing some pictures of your new ride

The APR comparison for alot of vehicles tells you alot about the vehicle even before you look at the specific specs.

Ford at 4.99% APR believes that even at that 5X rate of Toyota, that the truck will still sell. That means that their combination of name brand and likely what they believe to be a superior vehicle will work for them as a company.

Toyota at 0% APR (which I am really surprised to hear as most import vehicles have alot higher APR than domestics) is already telling you they think they need to give a pretty large carrot as an incentive for you to buy it over the Ford.

The rebates are likely because Ford is trying to encourage customers to buy with cash and as such is lowering the purchase price.

Other than that, I have no knowledge of either other than of the few I have drove and ridden in the F150 is a damn nice truck. I own a car and will soon be purchasing a Subaru Crosstrek so I dont really have any technical advice to add to the discussion.

I'm no car dealer but this could also be that they are trying to clear out 2013 stock.

Is May 1, 2013 the time when they start clearing 2013 stock? I figured it would be more September onward.

I never had a great impression of any of the NA car makers, then Ford hired Alan Mulally and since then IMO Ford has really come back. I am not going to say all the cars they make are better than other imports or domestics but as a company in general they have really turned a corder imo.

And FordSync is just awesome.

Yep, that big clear out is in September. That's when I bought my 2012 F-150 for what I think is an awesome price of $30,000 including extended cab, 4x4, Sync and tow package with brake control unit.
