Good, I'm on the same page as Feaster here. Might have thrown Stempniak's name out there.

Feaster: we are a small team...we continue to have a need for size and grit.
Pat Steinberg@Fan960Steinberg41s
Feaster identifies grit and center ice as two pressing needs. #Flames

Feaster says there is potential to move first round picks to move up in the draft, acquire more picks, etc. - all options are open.
He spoke about the needs. We have a number of needs. We need more size and grit. Need centers and more physical + grit on blue line.

Feaster says amnesty buyouts on table even not needed for cap compliance
Sounds like they are going to give a UFA a big payday and use the buyout for some more breathing space....... Weiss welcome to Calgary?

Feaster on the late-season call-ups from the #AHLHeat: They were ready to go ... I thought we had real strong showings from everybody.

Buy-outs are on the table even though they don't need them for cap purposes. Tanguay and Stajan prime suspects for these?
Edit: Buy-outs for players they want to trade but not getting any bites?

Feaster says Ortio is ready to come over to North America and be a number one goalie in the AHL. #Flames
Another goalie! Things are going to get crowded in net.
Macdonald
Ramo
Berra
Brossoit
Ortio
Think that pretty much cements Taylor, Brust, and Irving will not be coming back.

Not likely Stajan based on this.

Wouldn't think Stajan would get bought out. In a weak UFA pool, and the fact his salary is only 2.5M, I could see an appetite for Stajan in a trade, although the return would be insignificant.
I almost expect Tanguay to be bought out at this stage.

Tanguay's the only guy I can see. Stajan only has one year left.

I assumed they wouldn't move down with it, but it's nice to hear.

Considering Stajan was identified as a "bright spot" and that he's one of like 2 NHL centers on the roster, I would say no.
But that was definitely a shot across Tanguay's bow... which would be awesome. Is ownership willing to drop that much cash just to shed a player or two? Would they recoup by not spending to the cap?
