Feaster has to go alone for nearly losing a 1st round pick in such a good draft. Can you imagine if we win the lottery? And that signing actually had gone thru? Losing a 1st overall pick for NOTHING. Just think about that and then ask yourself why on Earth would you vote yes for this man.

I sort of surprised my self with my answer - NO to both. I like KK as a President, and I think that Feaster has inherited a mess, but don't know that they have shown much to prove that they are capable of getting us out of the basement.

Lots of talk, but until you see results it is hard to have faith. It is possible that they are capable of getting us moving forward, but there is not much proof. The best work of KK was hiring Darryl Sutter, but he screwed that up by promoting him too soon.

Feaster has done some good things, but until the Flames make the playoffs, hard to say what he is capable of.

I did. I think we need to give these guys one more year to get the rebuild rolling. Change for the sake of change at this point is more likely to set this organization back than move it forward. I'm not convinced Feaster's the guy to make this team a Stanley cup champion, but he's as good a choice as any for starting a rebuild and building assets for another year or two. I don't believe the Ken King is the actual GM and Feaster is a puppet thing either, so given what his role is supposed to be, I think he's doing fine.

I was suspect of management before...but lost faith over the O"Reilly fiasco. Management's job is to know these rules inside out. I get it that there is a brand new CBA, but they clearly needed to ask a few more questions and resolve the ambiguity before pulling the trigger.

Near disaster averted there.

I just hope the draft goes smoothly with no major f ups.

I just don't have faith in Feaster. To start the season I thought he was going in the right direction (just not going far enough), but this year he really blew away all confidence I have in him. He talks too much before thinking about what he really wants to say, which makes him and the team look foolish. The potentially botched offer sheet takes the cake though.

As for King... He did a lot to bring the organization back to respectability. I wanted to say yes to him, but perhaps it is time for a change. Is he truly micromanaging? Perhaps he is out of necessity, which means he has the wrong guy wearing the GM title, so make the move now or step aside and let somebody else clean house. Perhaps he is micromanaging because his bosses have asked him to, well, then the problem is larger than the President and GM and not much can or will be done.

I voted for Feaster to stay and KK to go. Feaster has made some head scratching moves, but has also done ok at the draft and at overall asset management. He's also treated some of our long-standing players with a lot of respect.. almost too much. But overall I think that respect is good for the organization long term.

Ken King, sorry. I think he should focus on the new arena, and concede to the fact that too many things have gone wrong under his 'watch'.

I don't have faith in this management group, but I'm even more worried that when we replace them, we bring in people like Nieuwendyk, who is even worse than what we currently have.

We really needed JD.

I'd like to know how anyone would want to keep Feaster after he won a cup and let Nikolai Khabibulin walk because he thought John Grahame was a suitable #1 goaltender.

That's where the eyebrows started to go up.

The Regehr trade was a turd at the time, and is a bigger turd now.

9 years of Brad Richards at 9 million? WTF?

Cervenka isn't a center. WTF?

O'Reilly was a fiasco. An absolute fiasco.

Most members of this board could have traded Iginla and Bouw for what Feaster got, so no great applause there. It's like being GM of the Canadian Olympic team, it doesn't take a ton of insight to do well there.

The worst of it is that this team has sucked for years, and nothing was done about it. If the owners were meddling, then we need a stronger GM than Feaster.

If they weren't meddling and Feaster believed this team was a contender then he's ######ed.

Something bad could have happened but it didn't. Truth is, I believe the whole RoR situation was a favor to COL. There was zero risk of those picks going to COL. "Well yeah but what if?" Well it didn't happen now did it?

Flames have done everything form changing players, coaches and GM's. King is the only one left standing for the on ice failures of the last 5 years. time to bring in a president with more Hockey knowledge for the Flames and let King go and run the whole sports and entertainment group.

That is no way to run a franchise.

Yeah, we should definitely wait until the damage is legitimate and long lasting before we react.

I have zero confidence in Feaster in the first place, even less to oversee a rebuild which he has zero experience with or qualifications to do. He uses big words and is media-friendly, not sure how those things are going to help the process ahead.

Don't really care about King one way or another. Seems like business is good especially for a team that has accomplished close to nothing in the nine years since 04 so that's impressive.

Jay Feaster's (notable) transactions since officially becoming GM on May 18th, 2011:

Signings:
Ryan O'Reilly (Failed RFA Offer-Sheet)
You list the ROR offer sheet but not the 90 million UFA to Brad Richards?

That would have been an albatross around our necks for a decade.

Have said it before but Brian Burke is such a perfect fit for where this team and organization are.

The whole group needs to take the blame for the small skilled experiment.

Somehow the Flames went and iced a very non-physical line-up.

Was this a plan? Did they feel that the NHL was going to out-law physical play and a small team like the Flames would spend 20-25 minutes/ game on the Power play?

When you have Cammalleri, Tanguay and Baertschi as key players in your top-6 how can you justify going after Hudler??

Was this simply a case of the best players available all being small. Is this because there is limited spots for them in the NHL? There is a premium on good big players for a reason.

It seems that after signing Hudler someone looked at the roster and panicked.... They had to sign Comeau and Sarich.

There just seems to be a lot of panic moves...... Signing Babchuck to a 2 year deal for instance.
After stating that there was no place in the Flames organization for goons.... They have to go an sign McGratton.

as for the influence of "hockey People" which I take to be the guys that played in the NHL: Conroy and Goulet seem to be building the team in their image..... skilled non-physical . This was 100% change from Sutter leaned towards players that would work hard and were a bigger. Had he personally been 3 inches taller and 20 pounds heavier he would have been a HOF player.

I voted No to both.

Hockey plan seem like it changes on a monthly basis and causes some real questionable moves.... Flames have to 100% buy into a strategy...are they rebuilidng or will the Flames bring in second waive of older players...

Changes are required....

On the plus side they finally swallowed their pride and got rid of Bouwmeester.

No to both for me. Having a President and GM who are not hocket first guys is not ideal for me. I am also a fan of bringing in a guy like Burke. It would have been way better if we had say John Davidson as President and Jim Nill as GM but Burke is still a guy that I am happy the Flames taking.

I do think Feaster has bought himself another year or so when the organization agreed to rebuild. That angers me because Jay said many times if ownership wanted to tear it down they could find another GM. Well Jay you traded our 2 highest paid players for picks and prospects and likely losing Kipper to retirement. This team is burnt to the ground right now.

Feaster also can't blame what he inherited as an excuse. He dumped contracts and had plenty of cap space to make the moves he wanted. While Hudler and Wideman played well he built a soft team that was horrible up the middle.

I would love for a new voice to lead this team back to the playoffs not letting the guy who couldn't do what he said he could do, and now doing what he said he never would lead this organization
