It depends on how you define "best".
The guide recommends Lucky Birds because it requires the least baby-sitting, so it maximizes LP gain with minimal user intervention. From that perspective, it's the "best" way to gain LP while letting it spin on auto in the background.
Other games may generate more share links, so if that's important to you, then something like Jewels Verne might be better - but, the more link shares they give, the lower the actual value of those shares (eg. Jewels Verne is 50 chips, Luxor is 10 chips, others are 101, IIRC). The problem with share links is that if you've got friends on your list who have been put in Facebook "jail", you're not going to get credit for those links being clicked, anyway. So, a lot of people put no stock in shares and don't count on getting much if anything from them.
Basically, though, all that matters is that you're betting in such a way as to make the most of filling up your LP meter.
This post (should be public) goes through all of the thresholds for the LP meter. For example, betting 200 on Lucky Birds when below level 58 is better than betting 300, because either way it takes 11 spins to get 10 LP.
