95% of these are really poor choices and should not even be considered. Odd when they don't even have the top 2 or 3 players off most teams. Just a really stupid decision by EA.

Pretty obvious that they want 1 of a certain number of players to win. Hence the weak picks for some teams.

Even though EA is allowed to use NHLPA players/logos/etc, they still have to pay for the rights to have the player who is on the cover, outside of any other licensing costs. The actual dollar figure is dictated by the player/manager. The reason you don't have the best players on each team is the simple fact that Sedin is going to want a ton more money to do it than Stempniak will. Also, players have to agree to it, and I'm sure there's a few top liners who wouldn't want to bother. It has nothing to do with a stupid decision by EA, but ultimately comes down to the almighty dollar. A top liner that runs EA in the millions instead of ten-thousands isn't going to sell more copies.

I don't even think his Anaheim teammates could pick him out of a lineup.

Why put a player on the cover at all then? Save that $5K to spend on getting good review scores or something.

I don't think it's a money issue at all. Just a way to "guide" the fan vote towards players try actually want on the cover. And probably to prevent repeats too.

I was still living in Vancouver when NHL 13 came out and Sedins we`re signing covers for the game at Metrotown. They had a Sedin cover, not sure if it was just for BC or in Europe also.

If anyone watches his videos on Youtube, 2BCSuperb (Nearly 50,000 subs) has issued a jihad to get Belesky on the cover

i agree it is $ and agent driven but since when has that stopped EA from having a stars on the cover. EA giving NHL fans the crud selections they have this year is just weird.
They didn't cheap out on all their other sports titles.
EA Madden last year Calvin Johnson this year AP or Barry Sanders
EA NCAA Denard Robinson
EA Fifa Messi
EA Tiger Woods
UFC 3 Undisputed Silva.
Just name Malkin/Teows Datz out of these poor choices or end up with a mockery of the fans Jihading this as a joke with Yip or Purcell etc.

Kessler and Burrows for Vancouver?
Sorry but I don't want my disk flying out of the case and sprawling on the floor every time I play.

For the first time since NHL 97, a goalie will be featured on the cover. It's down to Brodeur and BOBROVSKY.

Neither one will be a good choice. Any change Brodeur retires this season?

Hopefully Bob wins, then proceeds to crap the bed for the rest of his career ala Mason.

After a Vezina nomination, very very unlikely.
