I don't think 48 games allows enough time for the cream to rise to the top. I think 82 is a little long though. Somewhere in between would be nice.

I agree 72 games seems like the right amount. Won't happen without a drastic increase in ticket prices.

Definately better... Oct-Feb would be prime. Playoffs done by April.

Honestly i got other stuff going on... by March, i got time for weekday games... otherwise, i´m catching it on GameCenter (unless we suck and lose)

the 82 game season is fine, need less days off in the playoffs to not play into June.

in 1989 after an 80 game season this was the Flames playoff schedule.

First Round Vancouver:
April 5
April 6
April 8
April 9
April 11
April 13
April 15

Second Round LA:
April 18
April 20
April 22
April 24

Third Round Chicago:
May 2
May 4
May 6
May 8
May 10

Final Round Montreal:
May 14
May 17
May 19
May 21
May 23
May 25

Compared to 2004 (82 game season)

First Round Vancouver:
April 7
April 9
April 11
April 13
April 15
April 17
April 19

Second Round Detroit:
April 22
April 24
April 27
April 29
May 1
May 3

Third Round San Jose:
May 9
May 11
May 13
May 16
May 17
May 19

Final Round Tampa Bay:
May 25
May 27
May 29
May 31
June 3
June 5
June 7

Comparing 2004 to 1989, the playoffs started 2 days later and ended 12 days later.

Last year Game 6 of the final was played on June 11

Question for the people opposed to continuous OT and straight W-L records, why are you opposed to this idea?

I definitely wouldn't want to see it lower than 72 games. I don't mind it the way it is now. 48 far too short.

I don't like the shorter season because injuries play too big of a factor in the outcome of the season.

They would have to raise ticket prices or head to another lockout to bring salaries inline again if they had less games since there would be less revenue. I don't see it happening.
