I think for him to have success playing in the NHL, he's going to have to change the way he plays much like Luongo and Lundqvist have done to play deeper in the net. Positionally he is very sound for the first shot, but if he kicks out a rebound, he is way too far out of position to recover for NHL level of play.
He has a great toolbox from that video, but will need a lot of work to translate that to nhl success.

Will this affect the Flames signing Ramo after the KHL season is done?
Any updates on that front?
KHL season is done, at least Ramo's is.
I would hope this doesn't affect his coming over. It's not like the Flames were just going to gift wrap him the starters job and let him run free despite him not playing an NHL game in years.
If he was expecting that, and decides he doesn't want to come over now because he has to complete for the starters job with some other guys, then he can stay in the KHL as far as I'm concerned.
No goalie worth his salt would let something like that stop him from coming over, if his true desire is to be an NHL star one day.

I hope this guy and Ramo both come over, and go Viktor Fasth on all our arses.
Then Flames management can decide which one they want to run with moving forward, and trade the other guy to Tamp before the deadline for a 2nd round pick and JT Brown.

No way he would have ever expected not to have to fight for the job. It's the NHL. If he stays in Russia it's because he's making millions there, probably more than any other goalie in Europe. He plays in a better league than Berra and has played in NA before, so I'd be surprised if he's in any way discouraged by the signing.
However, if the Flames indicate that they prefer Berra, that's a different issue. But it sounds like they have the correct idea - get a bunch of them and hope one of them proves to be good enough.

Berra being on a 2 way contract will have no bearing on Ramo coming over. I suspect Feaster will give Ramo a one way contract and probably overpay him at $2 million a season. The only thing i could see affecting Ramo coming over, is if Kipper decides to stay and the flames give him a 2-3 year extension. I highly doubt that will happen.
Why???? Does he get to keep your quote if he is right, which he has better odds of being?
That's like all the posters that tell other posters they will have to eat crow when the flames make the playoffs. All that happens is that the original poster says nothing or joins in mocking the flames brutal season.
