He looked a little star struck the first few shifts. He seems like a pretty smart player, saw him make a few safe plays when he could have pulled a Brett Carson and tried to pass through somebody.
His size is an asset, but he has to use it more to be an impact player. Brodin couldn't handle him on his goal, so hopefully he takes a lesson from that.
His skating is below average for the NHL, so he'll have to work on quickness and top speed to stick in the big league. I wouldn't be surprised if he plays a few years in the NHL, but I would anticipate that he will be a 4th or 3rd line guy if he does. He seems like he has a good hockey mind and has played like a leader, so let's hope that he is a contributor for this franchise.
It's so hard to say after one game though. He had a pretty good debut. I hope he shows even more next game.

I wasn't asking for a definitive opinion to be fair. Just your view on tonight. I think Dion's Obama pic sums it up best to be honest.

10/10 on the hair, only rating that can be done accurately with only 1 NHL game under his belt

He has much needed size and toughness. You put him, Reinhart and a small skill guy on the third line next year and it would be fun to watch.
I think his energy level, if he can maintain it, will be very helpful next year.
I also love the hair. The key to the playoffs is good beards and good hair.

Trade him! He's interfering with our plans for a #1 first round pick!

Didn't think he played that great. He looked like he was in his first NHL game and it showed.
Probably should wait more than one game before anyone rates him.
Edit: did he even register a hit? He doesn't finish his checks at all and that needs to be adjusted.

Hopefully he's somewhere in the Scott Hartnell sphere (likely because of the hair), although I suspect the speed of the NHL and the altitude of Calgarymay have played a role...he sure looked winded out there, but then again, nice goal... If he goes to the net regularly, he will get his share.

His skating looks awkward for sure but i'm not sure how slow he really is. He wasn't really out of any plays. He does appear very hockey smart though. He wasn't bungling the puck and making quick rash decisions like we've seen in recent years from grizzled vets (ie, Jokinen, Glencross, Tanguay, Comeau, etc.). He was making smart little decisions to advance the puck or clear it. He has poise, which is harder to notice for a forward compared to a defenseman.
Kid reminds me of Mike Knuble. Big, good hands, awkward skater. He could make a solid living in front of the net and behind the opposition net.

If this kid actually gets a full time gig as an NHLer in a couple of years, then I think it was a good pickup.
I love how he drives the net. Would like to see him lay out some crushing checks though.

I think he has some solid skills but will need to put everything together if he wants to stick long term. Could be a good 3rd/4th liner in the future. Definitely needs to work on his skating.

He skates wth an unusual style, but isn't what I'd call slow. He kept up with the play. Did he look a little lost a bit? You bet... and who could blame him.
Made some good, smart plays along the boards.
Got to the open and or dirty area's enough to get a great chance and bang one in.
Head has to be reeling.... What more could you expect from a kid playing college hockey a couple days ago?
Well played, Hanowski.

As has been mentioned...his skating must improve if he is to be an NHL player for any length of time. Thankfully the Flames have a staff of people that can help him with that. When i watched him it wasnt so much that he doesnt have the speed, but his stride is awful and takes far too long to get to get going.
He will learn to use his size as well...he wasnt going to start throwing hits all over tonight for fear of getting out of position.
Other than that looks like a pretty solid gamer type who all teams need a few of.

was at the game tonight, he looked pretty lost out there for the most part, but scoring that goal should hopefully boost his confidence and get him going. nothing spectacular for a first game but showed signs of what he might become.

So far he's tied with Iginla for goals with their new teams. Looks like we won that trade after all, lol.
