There are allot of free agent goaltenders available this summer.

Backstrom
Smith
Emery
Thomas
Howard
Mason
Ellis
LaBarbera
McDonald
Theodore
Budaj
Montoya

and more.

If the Flames are without Kipper and content to go with Ramo, the i would be shocked if they don't grab one of these guys as a backup who can play 30ish games.

I would also be shocked if they give away young assets for a guy like Bernier, unless something happens to make them loss all faith in Ramo.

I also hope they have learned something from this season and just go after the best face-off man in free agentcy, then fit him into the line up.

And they will do something about Defence this off season weather it is free agents or trade. But there is no way Breen & Cundri are on the opening day roster, or we will be in 30th next year.

I simply offered up a proposal that I think would fit the needs of both teams.

Besides, it's called fantasy for a reason.
While I think your trade is complete garbage (Not sure if Coburn straight across for Gio would even get accepted) I think Couturier might be dangled for the right return. Not sure if Gio would do it though, maybe Gio + Pits 1st give or take. Philly seems high on Laughton and I'm sure Couturier would be available if they're getting a top 2 dman back.

Except Coburn is about as good as Gio so your proposal was basically Butler and a pick for Couturier. That is why people think it was a bad proposal.

They aren't going to trade Couts for Gio when they wouldn't include him in a package for Weber

Glencross - Stajan - Horak
Bouma - Reinhart - McGrattan
Byron

Giordano - Brodie
Regehr - Wideman
Breen - Butler
Sarich

Kiprusoff
Ramo

Notes: Horton is an overpayment, but since I don't expect us to be very competitive we can try to pay him like a first line forward so that his line can take on the top defensive pairings of other teams and let our younger guys develop a little more comfortably.

Trades are tough, so don't put much stock into the suggested returns. Those are some of the guys that I would try to trade though.

Regehr's best days are behind him, but our defence is just so soft. He's only 32, but I doubt LA will re-sign him and he didn't leave on bad terms. We need leadership and it seems that he is the type of guy who tries to bring defensive accountability to teammates.

If Kipper retires, I would give the two Euro goalies a shot and keep Danny Taylor on in the AHL.

I wont say what i want to happen but what i think will happen:

Feaster keeps his job

Feaster finds out quickly at the draft, that he is stuck with all the players he thought he might be able to trade. ie, Cammi, Stajan, Tangs

Feaster trades Pitt 1st rounder and a 3rd in 2014 for rfa Karl Alzner

Drafts Mackinnon and Erne

Makes offer sheet for Clutterbuck, gets denied.

Signs a UFA gritty 3rd line player and lets Cervenka go back home.

re-signs McGrattan

Sticks with Ramo and Berra in goal

So let me understand this. The Stars gave up James Neil to get Goligoski and they are going to flip him for Stajan?

If you could get Karl Alzner I would be so happy one of my favorite defencemen

Your AHL team next year could consist of guys like MacKinnon, Ristolainen, Zykov, Wotherspoon, Brossoit, with Gaudreau and Jankowski a few years down the road.

Couturier is the #2 centre because of ????? scoring potential?

Flyers sure would like him to play better than he has done this year.

36 games 3 goals 12 pts and -12.... almost the same line as Cervenka

Right now Stajan is a better NHL player than him.

Rienhart... from one NHL game... seems to be physically strong... might be an equivalent to Couturier if given a chance.

Couturier has not stepped up and developed anywhere what he was expected to.

Right now he is progressing slower than Backlund was 2 years ago

Feasters gets his pick of UFA's If there is a UFA that he wants, the Flames will have the $ and Cap space to sign him

Then Feaster can write a blog about it, because the number 1 change that should happen this offseason is with the management

I'm really wondering whether some posters have actually digested the lessons of the past 4 seasons. Far from actually sobering up and saying "gee, that strategy failed" we have many people more than willing to double down again. What the heck do you need, a slap in the face? The cold bucket of reality dumped all over you certainly wasn't enough.

Signing UFAs is the key to the Flames returning to a Stanley Cup contender? What the heck would lead anyone to make that conclusion?

Anyone who doesn't have Brodie on the top pairing needs to lay off the glue. And if
Gio keeps playing the way he has, he may find himself in the A.

To get Horton and Clowe it would cost an extra year of term and an extra $1million a year. That would make those contracts impossible to move going forward. Flames can not afford to be stuck with those kind of contracts when they have no idea what kind of team they are going to have in 2-3 years.

Plus Clowe is not a first line guy. Clowe is a great 3rd liner.

I take it your goal for this lineup is to guarantee a 30th place finish next year.

It will be interesting to see which vet's ask for a trade, rather then spend the last few years of their NHL careers lost in the woods. I could actually see it from Tanguay or Wideman.

Of the Flames leftover, I can see Cammalleri embracing the "best player" tag and stay... I don't think he'll ask for a trade.

Also, I know this won't be popular, but I'd bring back Young-Guns alumni Steve Begin. On a sucky team, he's kind of fun to watch.
