Giordano's play over the last year shouldn't warrant him being labelled untouchable. With Bouwmeester gone he's needed. And if he bounces back, great. But another year of his subpar play given the expectations we have of him and he should be shopped.

Wish he had been. I'm not an unquestioning believer in Corsi stats, but check out these numbers for Calgary this year.

We hear statements regarding who is untouchable from a lot of GMs around trade deadline, but now we are going to crucify Feaster for that. If he had stated "there are no untouchables" the same people would be falling over themselves to declare he has just jeopardized Baertschi's development by destroying his confidence.

Is it possible to actually resist these urges to make mountain out of molehills regarding this guy? Serious question: do you enjoy making the comments you do? I would have a hard time staying on this band wagon if it truly made me this miserable, so honestly, what makes you stick around?

Hopefully there are a few outliers in those statistics / guys that can turn it around next year (Baertschi)

The problem isn't that it was true, it's that it shouldn't have been said.

Actually the problem is sort of that it was true, given that Glencross could have fetched a shiny new 1st rounder, potentially.

This wasn't an Official List of People We're Not Trading.

Someone just asked if there was a list, and Feaster said there wasn't - but alluded to young players and/or good contracts (such as Baertschi, Brodie, Glencross and Giordano) as being examples of players we wanted to keep. I think this thread is a little misleading, to be honest.

Guaranteed the long term vets were approached about the possibility of a trade already. IE Tanguay and Cammalleri already knew there was a possibility they would be traded. No one else on the team has earned "untouchable" status, and they should be aware of that already.

No feelings should be hurt.

That being said, if he were to be moved, he would leave a big hole (but this team is already holier than the pope).

In the end, keeping him doesn't hurt the team going forward - but I think if you could capitalize on his (perhaps overstated) value, then you do it - particularly when your team is in the position the flames are.
Wow... I can't even tell you how much I agree with this. Sure Glencross is decent at a decent price and that is the kind of player that you need to fill out your roster with but UNTOUCHABLE?? Are you kidding me? Curtis Freaking Glencross is UNTOUCHABLE?

These are the type of players that are not usually hard to find in the 'half-price' bin. This type of asset management is why the Flames can't even do a rebuild properly and they will be wallowing near the bottom of the league for years. If someone is willing to offer you anything for Curtis Freaking Glencross you listen to the offer.

Feaster... you forgot Backlund on your list. Glad Glencross is sticking around... great value for money.

We've got a post-apex General Manager, unfortunately. "Best" days in Tampa.

People relax, nobody is untouchable. It's just a ploy to drive up the price in the future, if a team were to inquire about them.

Sounds like a decent enough core to start off with. I suspect the list grows the next few years.

And honestly, why should there be other players on there? Have they played like they deserve to stick around?

Weird that there were any untouchables. I would have said there were no untouchables. A little fear of God is always healthy.

This place never makes sense to me. Some of the comments just blow me away and make me wonder what's going on in the minds of some people here.

Glencross' current scoring pace is 36 goals over 82 games.

If you feel that is a third liner, then the problem isn't Glencross, but your own faulty opinion of what a third or second line player is.

Or to put it another way: If your viewpoint was realistic enough to be commonly held by actual general managers, then the Flames would be absolutely stupid to move him, since they could never hope to get back in a trade the value they get out of him as a player under those contract terms.
