The timing for this seems rather odd, as the Rangers are fighting for the playoffs.
Perhaps they wanted to get him off of the books and figured this would be the time to get best return for him?
Also, looks like Columbus is serious about making a run this year.

Personally, if I was Columbus, I would have wanted Cammalleri over Gaborik, must be the price, or Cammalleri not waiving to go. Cammalleri is a clutch playoff scorer, Gaborik is in one hell of a funk

At least now we can be rest assured that the BJ's will finish ahead of us in the standings. Was paranoid they were going to go an extended losing streak and find a way to end up higher in the lottery than we will.
That won't happen anymore.
