there isn't anyone on this team who deserves to be a captain. At this point I think Iggy needs to go and this team needs to play without a captain so they can find their own identity and go from there. As long as Iggy stays, his mentality will stay and rule the dressing room. They need to move on, go in a new direction and first find that direction before they choose who is going to lead them in that direction.

In all seriousness I say rotate it until someone emerges as a consistent leader. You got guys like Gio and Glencross on the short list but then they disappear for a few games.
There's no clear cut favorite at the moment.
EDIT: guess we're not doing the green text anymore heheh

I don't think anyone on the club other than Iginla is captain material. I would be more inclined to run with 3 alternate captains for the rest of this season and maybe next year too, but that depends on who comes in as a UFA and we get in return for Iginla.
For the 3rd 'A' I would seriously look at Stajan, he has been a heart and soul player this year and leaves everything on the ice every night. From all accounts he is also a great team guy too and it looks like the guys rally around him some.

Funny - last night I was down at ice level watching the warmup, and the guy that stuck out for me as being a 'leader' was Stajan - so if you had to have a captain this year, Stajan would be the guy.
But definitely agree that no new captain should be selected until next year (you never know - if Iggy was traded, you might be able to sign him back)

As much as I like how Stajan has re-invented his game as a strong two way forward, why put the extra pressure on him to be a Captain.
One thing that's been questioned about Iggy over the last few years is his leadership and a bit of lack of passion.
personally if Iggy was to go though, for propriety I would prefer that the Flames went without a listed Captain til the end of they year and decide on a new one next year.

Who should get the C?
It should go the guy that believes you must win in order to have fun, not to the guy that thinks you must have fun in order to win (ie. Iggy)
I would submit that Glencross has the cajones to be a captain. Great checker, will do what it takes to win (checking), can score, and fiercy. Looking into his eyes I don't think he likes losing. Iggy must go before this can happen, the guys like Iggy and the torch can't be passed until this happens. The culture in the room must change from losing is acceptable to winning is the only option.

Hard to determine since we only see the on ice product. Who knows who is good in the room and what-not. This year "Jordanno" has taken too much time off, but he stills trikes me as captain material
