My dad wore 69 and 77 throughout his days. 69 for the year his best friend died. 77 because it was the number his friend always loved. His friend, David, was pretty severely handicapped, both physically and mentally and passed away from complications due to his illnesses at the age of 15. He alternated the numbers every year as a tribute. Some 69s have a story, and a heartwarming one at that.

All leagues should have a no .08, or 69 rule. 0 and 00 would be ok on a goalie, but I guess if it's a ligitimate problem with tracking software then what's a guy to do.

After NHL statisticians discovered a bug in their new stat-tracking software, the "Biron rule" restricted jersey numbers to whole numbers between 1 and 99.

Seems like a quirky bug that should be fairly simple to fix.
