Maybe I wasn't paying attention, but I don't remember the media dumping on the other Canadian teams like they do to the Flames when they had down seasons. I realize that the Leafs are under the microscope but they never got "Sweet Georgia Brown" or #freeiginla either. I listen to NHL radio and (unless they're talking to someone like Peter Maher), they've been bashing for a couple of years.
Am I the only one who hopes Iginla gets traded for another's teams first, only for that team to fail miserably, and either miss the playoffs or lose their first round? That way our draft pick(s) will only be that much better.
He can go ahead and win the cup the years we don't have the other teams picks. No single player is more important than the team imo, and that includes Iginla as well.

I watched a some kids in West Edmonton mall play better team defense then this bunch. You've had an axe to grind for years, hilariously silent the past two seasons. Now you're back out in full force.
You'll see what's up when this team is without a number one guy, you've forgotten how bad it can get.

Any goaltender with a save % like that won't get us into the playoffs. It's also hard to go up when you haven't got a proven replacement for Kiprusoff. Joey MacDonald or Leland Irving is not the answer.
There is no way the Flames will move Iginla. They are brining in a new jersey and will want to sell a boatload of them. The IGINLA name on the back of thousands of new jerseys is worth more at the cash register than the product on the ice. This is how the Flames management thinks. Also, next year is an Olympic year, so the whole country will be talking about Iginla again, the Flames management wants all of that free press. They don't want TSN running their countless "Olympic Selection Preview" shows with clips of Iginla in another teams jersey.
The Flames still make a lot of money for these owners and they certainly won't move their largest, fattest cash cow before they have squeezed every possible ounce of cash out of him. Expect to see Iggy in Flames colours again next horrible season.
