Funny thing was that during this horrible, horrible stint the Devils have been on, they just haven't been scoring goals. So when Devils fans heard that Brodeur was back in nets, the routine comment on the Devils forum was "that won't help us win unless he can score some goals".

LOL
Leino has played 3 games this season. Poor choice of players for the joke.

Brodeur now moves ahead of Hextall for career regular season goals. He needs another playoff one to hold that record by himself too

It's not even coded as an empty net goal cause Dan Ellis wasn't off the ice yet (he was actually trying to get back to make the save). Sniper!

Here's a question. If Dan Ellis had thrown his stick at the puck to knock it away from the net, would Brodeur have been awarded a penalty shot on Ellis? I'm pretty sure the answer is yes.

What a crazy OOT with Brodeur scoring a goal. American viewers were treated to that rarity as that game was on NHL Network USA. Hopefully, this game will be repeated tomorrow on NHL Network Canada. The Devils win to no surprise as Brodeur is healthy again and was the first star in the 4-1 victory.

On RDS,
the Habs won 5-2. Subban scores two goals as Montreal maintains its second place standing in the east by one point. The Bruins won 2-1 in regulation time over the Senators which was on in french on TVA Sports. Seidenberg scores the winning goal with just over a minute left in the third period.

Good question. I think had the stick been thrown, a goal would have been automatically awarded regardless if the puck went in or not.

Correct, a penalty shot on an empty net is an automatic goal.

But Ellis was still on the ice so it wasn't an empty net.
