Oh, really? Wow. My memory stinks I guess.
Then again, we never used the Devils.
My roommates and I played as Detroit, Chicago, Toronto (not me), and Pittsburgh.

I started playing from NHL 97 and have loved the series, and I can't believe that EA managed to make the NHL series worse each year. The freezing issue has been around for 2 years and they have never resolved the issue. In fact it's still in NHL 13.
The other day I was playing a WCF playoff game and it went to 3rd OT, and the game froze. I'm done with EA until they get their crap together and can make their game as stable as the old NHL games.

I used to play it a lot with a friend of mine, we usually won every game we played around 60-0, yet it was fun.

Nhl 93 was the first game to use actual NHL rosters, 94 was when the one timer was introduced. I thought NHL 95 was a better game because you could trade players and beef up your team lol.
Not to mention in NHL 95 they finally got the colours right on the flames away jersey.

I think Luc Robitaille had one where if you shot it hard from the half boards the goalie would kind of turn and redirect the puck in with his chest.
My bread and butter was the blind pass from Fleury to Nieuwendyk in the slot for a one-timer.

I'm pretty sure that worked on more than just Vernon. I only ever played with the Flames and I remember doing that trick all the time.

I will never forget playing the first NHL Hockey on PC (I think it was actually remake of NHL 93 from console versions). Flames had one of the best rosters in the game, as far as I remember my lines were
Fleury - Nieuwendyk - Stern
Makarov - Reichel - Roberts
Ranheim - Otto - Ashton
Paslawski - Skrudland - Berube
Macinnis - Sutter
Musil - Johansson
Dahl - Petit
Vernon
Awesome game, though a bit too easy after some practice - remember beating Sens 82:0 when Roberts got more than 30 points

94 was awesome, especially how they just copied the players from their original teams to make the Ducks and the Panthers - so all those players were on 2 teams apiece.
93 was also awesome, if only for the players with a 1 out of 100 rating - Kent Paynter, anyone?

there's a team in my men's league that does the exact same thing whenever they win a game - it's soooo funny. the best is trying to explain to the younger guys why the celebration is so funny as they never played the game and just don't get the joke

My memory's failing me a bit, because it was removed either after 93 or 94. But did '94 still have OOT game highlights between periods? 10 year old Sainters really loved those, I was disappointed when they got rid of it.

Being an avid Canuck-hater, I'm disappointed in myself for revealing that I often played as Vancouver because Trevor Linden was unstoppable going south with the slapper from the hash marks along the right wing wall.

I remember you couldn't knock Beukeboom off the puck, despite being as slow as a turtle. We called it the Beuke-shuffle.

Genises 94 was the first one for 4 player, with that lillte adapter that plugged into the front of the Sega. In 4 player, when two would fight, the other two could just skate around checking everyone for what seemed like forever, that was a lot of fun. Then after a while the 4 player adapter would crap out so you would have to strip the outter shell off and would work again. Me and my two Bros spent a lot....wasted a lot of time playing this game. The goalies seemed so much better then they did in 93 untill you figured out the one timers.
