There's still the course near the fish hatchery.

What? I tell you, you never visit a place for years and years and they go and change it on you. Jerks.

Will there be a section of the beach for nude sunbathing?
...asking for a friend.

Looks great. Hope people embrace & use it, so it doesn't become another ghostly Calgary public space.
You can build all the inner city public spaces you want, but if people just wanna drive home to the burbs & chill out in their backyards it's a big waste of money.

Prince Island Park/Eau Claire is always super busy and jumping in the summer months when it's nice out. I would be shocked if this, combined with the new river walk in the east won't be equally as busy.

I have faith in this park getting used when complete. With Bridgeland right across the river, East Village finally building, and Inglewood and Ramsay right nearby there should be plenty of people wandering over to enjoy it. Plus with the new Riverwalk pathway system it will easily become part of a nice river circuit for those biking/blading along.
Then add some food trucks into the mix on the east end and you are golden.
Edit: This is only a lazy 10 minute bike ride away from most of Hillhurst-Sunnyside and those yuppy environs. We'll flood into that park in a flash!
I also bet it will be quite busy when things shut down most of Prince's Island, like Folk Fest.

During the summer afternoons, Calgary downtown parks are one of the busiest open spaces in this country I would have to imagine. Even during weekends. Whenever I'm down there I always see lots of activity. As reasons mentioned above, it should only increase.

My face is a bum!

Prince's Island was pretty well used even when the inner city population was about half of what it is now. Plus both are destination parks, that attract/will attract people from all over the city. And it's the perfect spot to hang out after you finish up your day of rafting!
