Not to many empty seats at Flames games. Plenty of extra tickets available for Hitman games so the Flames make it more appealing to bring the kids to Hitman games to sell more tickets.

Doors to the concourse open 1.5 hours before game time. Tonight that will be 6:00pm. Pre-game skates begin 30 minutes before scheduled puck drop. The scoreboard will have 30 minutes on the clock and once the countdown begins the teams hit the ice with 16-15 minutes remaining. They are finnished after the horn sounds though many players leave before then. Iggy is always the first off the ice with 6-5 minutes left. He takes one big slap-shot on net, skates hard back and fourth across the ice and then heads down the tunnel.

You can sit anywhere (outside of the club seats) for the warm-ups but of course have to move if the actual ticket holders arrive. If you are behind the Flames net you get the best view of almost everything and a close-up of Kipper. Plus guys like Glencross and Tanguay try to flip pucks over the glass and behind the netting to the kids. If you sit along the Flames enterance tunnel you have to get there almost right when the doors open for a good seat. Most players will give fist bumps to the kids as they come on and off the ice. Only Glencross will stop after the skate to sign anything.

During the intermission you can find a lot of quite space outside the main concourse between the 2 FanAttics on the West side. Harvey appears at random so there's no tricks to meeting him.

I've taken kids from 6 months to 9 years to games. Always had fun. Just know you will get to watch less of the game as you answer constant questions but you can make that fun to. Do your own little play-by-play. Point out certain players and ask him later where they are. Kids are pretty good at picking up those sorts of things. My nephew can always find Iggy when he's on the ice and he's now only 4.

Oh, and just ignore the moronic ramblings of those who show up only to belittle the team. Unless they are being vulgar of course. Talk to your usher if there are any issues.

WTF? Game is at 7:30. Pre-game skate will start about 7:00. The ice won't even be set-up at 6pm.

Thanks for the detailed post! We were lucky enough to pick up tickets off a fellow calgarypuck member in the green section so thankfully I won't have to worry "as much" about the language and/or anything else if we had been sitting in the 'bleeds. Its fun sometimes sitting up top but its not a good place to take a kid with the language and everything else that sometimes goes on up there.

Sure you aren't confusing 960's pre-game warmup show with the actual skating warmup?

I used to think that the warmup started about 30 minutes before, but I don't think thats right. Seems that in the past I would be planning on heading down to watch warmups and then I would hear the music blarring while I was on the concourse and if I checked the time it was always around 40 minutes before puck drop. Remember, it takes 15 to 20 minutes for them to flood the ice after warmup.

18 minutes. But "game time" isn't on the 0 it's on the 5. Puck drop tonight will be 7:35 schedule. This is for TV more than anything. Stations get their intros as the team's hit the ice just before the anthems. Cut to quick commercial then back for the opening face-off. The Flames will be on the ice at 7pm tonight for warm-ups, give or take a minute.

Don't shoot the messenger, I was just relaying what time the dude on the radio said the Flames would be taking to the ice.

I'm not rich enough to go to a Flames game, so I can't confirm. Anyone know if it was accurate?

Puck drop should have been 7:35 but they were super late last night. 7:45 or later before they actually dropped the puck, something must of happened cause they're never late.

On the radio, sure, their pre-game coverage may have began at 6pm. But at 6:15 the Olympia was resurfacing the ice while the ice crew waited to install the practice nets.

The Habs/Sens game went long. But as I said pre-game skate began about 7pm. The clock didn't start it's 15 minute countdown till almost 7 though, and even then things were delayed to try and get the start of the game on TV.
